The most dominant players I have seen so far have all been hunters. shamans win the instagib lottery occasionally but hunters have a million ccs and can kite forever due to wide open bg maps with almost no los. I think this tells me that the bg maps are fundamentally poorly designed. they desperately need more ways to los, in wide open areas hunters will seemingly always be dominant since they are the only class that attacks from range and can attack on the move AND kite.

that's not the point, I mean that hunters are one of the worst matchups for a warrior because of their range and kiting ability just like frost mages. and again my point was not to complain about my own ability vs a particular class, but what class I am seeing consistently perform the best in bgs and that's hunter. shamans are easier to play obviously so a shit shaman outperforms a shit hunter but a good hunter is as effective as like 2-3 mediocre ret paladins or any other similar class.

It's a very different feeling pre- and post-Noxious Assault. Before you get it, you're basically going to be keeping Slice & Dice (and later Envenom) up while spamming 1 pt Eviscerates. I don't think it even gets to that point. I'm trying to get AV rep and we lose every game because of the typical problem of nobody knowing how to play AV. Its a proper big battle, bgs were never about just farming honor points. It was about feeling like its an actual battle between two superpowers. AV was always the closest to that, you would log in and join a battle. Maybe take out a single tower and the front-line shifts but that's it. It was meant to be a on-going long conflict, you'd log off and log in the next day maybe the situation changed maybe it didn't.
Even nowadays if you look at modern battles they're not resolved in 1 or 2 days. They go on for months sometimes like the siege of Mariupol took 2 months for example.
That was what AV simulated and why so many liked it. Only laters players adapted since they only wanted to farm honor and nothing else. So both sides just made it a goose-chase about who reaches the end boss the quickest.

Even if what you want is the spectacle of a big battle, AV STILL miserably fails at that too because of how badly the map is designed. The map is so gigantic proportionally to an individual player or group of players that it's trivial to avoid the enemy team basically indefinitely. So what happens in 99% of AV games is people wandering around aimlessly because they don't know what to do or where to go because the dogshit map provides no real direction. These scattered wandering players avoid any groups of enemies larger than their own which they can so easily do because the gigantic map means that even with perfect coordination it's impossible to maintain an established front line. The ONLY time you see the large scale battle you are describing is at the chokepoints like the bridge or the entrance to the horde base. Kinda tells you something there, that the rest of the map is way too fucking big.

What you are talking about doesn't even happen on fucking turtle, in the dozens of AV games I have played so far, what happens is that people wait and wander around for something to happen, and eventually one side gets enough people to cap the last or second last gy that they then use to kill the boss, and they never get displaced because once the entire team is there it's impossible to break. Nearly identical to the boss rush strategy except much slower and stupider.

It's fine to take time and be slow initially when the guild is discovering the raid. What killed it for me was that we never really got faster when the raid was on farm. It's not fun to take hours in a raid we have been doing for months. Struggling in a raid you have done once or twice is not the same as struggling through a raid you have done 20 times. can someone tell me how drop chance works? if a boss has 6 items with a 10% chance each to be dropped, does that mean 40% of the time it will drop nothing or are there 3-4 guaranteed items and it simply rolls again until all 3-4 slots are filled? would that effectively boost the drop chance of an item to 35%ish?

Turtle received a lawsuit, and they seem to mostly shrug it off. However, there are signs that it isn't going that well. They used to do weekly updates full of changes, but since the lawsuit, those have been mostly empty.
Epoch launched in a disastrous state and got acquired by Ascension. Then every single person who originally made Epoch left the project, citing a C&D from Blizzard as the reason. Epoch is now in the hands of Ascension and is still extremely bugged. I doubt the server will survive for long, and even if it does, it will not be the same since it's entirely different people behind it now.
Overall, the future is uncertain. I don't think it's a good time to play on private servers.

Ascension dev wise is good, they have competent modders, but they are extremely greedy (p2w), and the kind of content they do isn't appealing to most people. They are mostly known for classless and some fun stuff, not for handling a long term Blizzard-like server with additions and changes that stay in the spirit of the original game. Bronzebeard was their attempt at something close to vanilla, and it looks way closer to retail WoW than vanilla. Although they did have some nice ideas, there was just too much shit added. We'll see how they handle Epoch, but right now we don't know what they're going to do with it.

The surviving ones are probably in the AQ40/Naxx stage. Also, it mostly depends on your raiding time. There are some good roleplayers in Branded, but yeah, around half of them are quite bad, although it's still fun to be around them. The average roleplayer outside the guild is overall better than the average Branded member. But if you really want some quality ERP, you'll have to make a character on Nordanaar.

Somehow I played WotlK on Warmane years ago, yet I reached max level, but never tried raids. But since Im playing Turtle wow (And played some time on Sheilun) and now im a raider full time...
I could go back to Warmane, but Stormforge will release a WotlK soon....but with how the recent TBC server they launched now is on sub-1K players (And Shielun has also seen better times player-count wise); I wonder if I should Try Frostmourne or try to go back to Warmane and spam RDF to get Pre-BiS for raids.

And for reference: I have a Arms Warrior on Warmane+A Frost Mage; While if I choose Frostmourne, then I will try Death Knight (Not sure about specc).
