it has a niche in that it's got a rotary gun and rockets and has more of a clear 'use this for small problems, use this for big problems' sort of arrangement, and it also isn't as likely to ragdoll teammates
emancipator is more of a general solution to all obstacles type thing, but the gap between them became a lot more obvious when the rupture bugs existed since every emancipator shell could knock the bugs out from underground while the patriot really only had the missiles to work with
my personal gripe with it is the rocket launcher more than anything else because for a big-ass rocket that's twice the length of a full recoilless shell, the fact that it does a third the damage and has a paltry two meter splash zone feels ridiculously wrong

This is a solid bug loadout and covers most of your bases. I would make sure to bring a good secondary for when the bugs inevitably get right in your face as the eruptor would be suicide. Also I would recommend an eagle of some kind instead of orbital napalm. Multiple uses makes them more versatile. Strafe, 500kg, or air strike are my go-tos depending on mood.

I think the game is enjoyably difficult and much more fair than people claim. You think the game is too difficult and unfair.

I might actually be wrong about it, it was true at one point but I think when they did a second pass on helldiver armor damage mitigation they removed armor class unique damage reduction and unified to it to just armor value and did the same thing to headshot multipliers. Heavy used to have 10% difference(additive) compared to padded medium when it came to headshot penalties but yeah, I think it's unified now and based entirely on armor value.
