I think the main reason people get pissed of is because they are kinda pseudo-stars of the game due to being OG Karlos starter and got revealed with lots of fanfare + actual decent design compared to the rather controversial set before (Dragonite/Victreebel etc.) but then they reveal they are locked behind the playwall. It’s basically if the Olympus 12 or Plutomon ultra mode got locked behind paywall in TS I would be pissed too. However for now it seems only extravagant but non-relevant like Kizuna forms shits or BWGM or maybe Bancho/Pirate clown are DLC so nobody feel offended that much.

It'll stop being fun when you realize 90% of the digimon once they get past Champion level are useless because of the different passives or skill types brutally outclassing others. There's also the super difficulty spike that's only mitigated by using the 10%. Time Stranger so far by the demo seems to have eliminated that issue, and also made grinding levels/stats much easier. While grind autists like myself can get behind this kind of stuff (but I admit CS and others are annoying without exploits), the average gamer won't enjoy having to constantly de-evolve a mon like 2 times at minimum PER STAGE just to go up one. That's something that's always held these games back for normal players.

It changes depending on game. The de-evolving to get the stats you need is the norm for digimon though. The issue is that not every game has ways to get a lot EXP once you de-evolve and basically make that mon useless until it gets back to the current level of the rest of your team, not even accounting for the goal of trying to get it to reach the next stage. The requirements are also different for each game. The leveling process in the demo makes it seem very easy this time around (Your mon is still USELESS once it drops to level 1 again, unless it has retard high stats), so the issue seems to be fixed. Cyber Sleuth basically required the numemon exploits to get where you needed to be, especially later on, so that may also become a hurdle in the official game as well.
