I'm actually having a lot of fun with 1.6 as well. The NVDs and changes to the stealth AI are transformative at night that it actually made me change my play style. Now I take my time to seriously consider if I want to go out and attack a outpost at night instead of just skipping it.
Also I don't know if anyone has noticed it but GSC seems to have increased the spawns of rare mutants at night? I have been encountering stuff like burers much more frequently out in the Zone in places like garbage. Really funny to see their teeth get kicked in by random bandits lmao.
Earlier last week things were getting pretty exciting with the ARG but apparently progress has stagnated a bit. Hopefully things will ramp up soon. In the mean time I started playing SoC, IWP, and the Analmeme Zona modpack (modified to my taste, body health system can go fuck off) as well. Good stuff.
As a Stalker fan I am eating so good bros.

What map does OLR use for the dark valley lab? I've been downloading loads of builds but I can't seem to find it. Also, where does the friendly zombie from the bottom floor come from? I can't seem to find any info on it from any of the documents.

I haven't played OLR in a while, but the dark valley lab is based on laboratory_1 from build 1475 if I recall correctly. As for the zombie, it's the modmaker's own idea based on the concept of neutral zombies that the player could interact with which is mentioned a few times in the desdocs, and it's an excuse to add a task rewarded with the gravity shotgun, which was mentioned in the documents but without any details on how the player could obtain it. Most of OLR is a more or less faithful adaptation of GSC's ideas, but hi_flyer also had to improvise with some things at times.

Yeah, it was originally supposed to be called the lost laboratory, it would be the final level of the game, in which the player would encounter the so-called "invisible entity". Then in 2004 the lab was reworked and moved under the dark valley and became known as the dark laboratory, you can see it in build 1865. Then in 2005 it was reworked again and turned into the actual X18, in build 2205.
