I always reach a wall around level ~65. How do you effectively solo level after that?
The problem is how long it takes to kill anything or how much damage you take making it a potfest. I feel like it's time to get some gear but all the mobs dropping anything that'd accelerate the process are near end-game mobs so clearly how of my league.

It's impossible. The information regarding crafter's ID, star crumbs and element is stored inside the fields that usually contain card data. Even if you make a source/database edit to get around that, the client doesn't know how to interpret that.

Blacksmiths are fundamentally flawed in the sense that, although they can party buff, they bring very minor boosts compared to all other support classes. And on their own, they aren't that amazing for how expensive they are to run. Most players don't like the concept of spending money to play, mostly because it hardlocks you into a handful of zeny positive leveling paths. And most private server nerf the easy money-making spots, which indirectly fucks over blacksmiths.
You can lower the costs or outright remove them like I did on ragna/v/ but now you've got the opposite problem where they become the best melee class, hands down. In our server it's not a huge issue because I buffed the fuck out of every other melee job but most servers way before that, but most servers don't go that far.

It's not just the VVS, but also the element and the blacksmith's signature. If you strip all of that away, you just have a plain old weapon that isn't connected to the forger in any way.
I guess you could just make copies of every weapon, each with a different element, and then let the smith forge those copies. That'd allow you to forge elemental weapon with slots, but then you'd have to throw out the smith's signature and connection to the weapon.

Here's an early look into Episode 15 equipment.

I feel like that the way that the set is shaping up is quite balanced. The choice between more DPS and more survival is a real struggle when playing a melee bruiser like Black/Whitesmith. I'm also happy with the adaptations I had to make. For example, the Tornado Axe was a weapon that boosted the skill of same name, which is an AoE skill. But instead of using that, I went with the existing weapon splash effect that many players are already familiar with(it's the same as when you use a shotgun).

Updated with information on Excellion gear and enchants.
By themselves, these armors are defensive options. High DEF, VIT bonuses, bonus HP and Perfect Dodge. But no slots.

You can then enchant them, and these can be worn by any class. It's all done by farming monsters in the Verus region. Up to 3 per piece, although there are some limitations. Some can only go armor, some only on garment, some can be applied just once per piece.
You can get up to 45% resist for Fire/Water/Wind/Earth on garment, +1 ASPD on both pieces, +37 ATK on an armor, or supercharge your HP/SP recovery. At the cost of card slots, of course. Or any combination you like, as long as it respects the stack limits...

An interesting thing about this system is that the enchants are a tradeable item. If you get something you don't want, you can trade it with another player or sell.

I feel that these may be a little overtuned, it's a lot of bonuses...still need to test. But I do like the variety in enchants.

I think Skotlex OLD-old server (that non-weapons had 2 slots) had something of the sorts but the result was just a single slot.
Not an actual dev but I wonder if creating a single slot that has all possible combinations of stardust and elemental stones and using it while leaving at least 2 slots would work.

BS crafting is easy as fuck to fix but you either make crafted items really fucking good so that people use them, invalidating actual gear drops.

Or it's just gonna stay a gimmick few people bother with.

If they can make good intermediary gear with accessible materials? They're going to see use for a brief window. But a server like V3 for example, is too old and lacks an influx of users that would desire such items. The aged playerbase has outgrown such items.

I remade the smithing system once and it was a pointless endeavor. Best you're gonna do is either say "fuck it" and make the game revolve around crafting items entirely.

Or say "fuck it" just blacksmith simply does not chase gear. They make that intermediary gear, and then exclusively for themselves, can upgrade that into their end game items so they have to keep churning that out. Etc.

To be specific, player elemental armors are always lv1, so you should only be taking 25% of water ball's damage (im assuming that was the one) which is still quite a lot when it comes to water ball.
General rule
Defense: always match elements, except ghost
Offense: Play the little element merry go round of fire > earth > wind > water

Theres a few oddities like undead being weak to ghost (and fire, and water ???), shadow good against like 70% of the game and preventing a few really obnoxious status effects, and poison being good for fucking nothing.
