Ambush just gives a bonus to autoresolve strength, it doesnt separately buff high charge bonus units or penalize defending ranged units, they still autoresolve as if they were two armies lined up and grinding out a normal battle. Which I agree is silly.

A reddit classic is to have a "this mediocre unit is super good actually" thread with 1000+ updoots from shitters that got their bad choices validated. But yeah, Manticores are mostly for distracting archers or artillery I feel. If enemy is very ranged heavy you can also be sneaky and send it juuust before your other units get into range so it can stay at max distance weaving back and forth absorbing all the arrows (until it rampages and suicides). It has utility but pretty much any big nuke spell on a blob will generate much more value and can be directed on elites, not just unarmored ranged units like the Manticore.

Strider is also really good on all Monstrous lords. Banner of Swiftness grants it. Strider removes ton of situationality that charge-reliant Large units have: no more charge penalty when charging uphill (which is more than 50% of the fights because AI loves to camp on hills), no more -20% melee penalty from fighting uphill, no more -20% MA and Speed penalty when fighting in woods and most importantly extra acceleration so its a lot easier to push through enemies if you get swamped.

I remember in wh2 even autoresole just gave me wins in a solo stack of taurox with khaine's sword. It whittled my health down to half eventually. Then I took two full stacks at once and regenerated back to full over the course of that fight.

Can you reccomend me an army comp? I only played two delf campaigns and dropped one. I never got far with lokhir in wh2 because i focused on his discounted units and those were a horrible matchup against local lizards. Then I started a darkblade campaign and I had to fight lizards yet again (but with lessons learned), but also delfs in his naggarond province so nothing interesting happened for a while apart from managing his awful drug addiction. Early game it’s as simple as swords/spears with darkshards. A unit or two of witch elves is very powerful for attacking once the lines are engaged. Always have a mage. You can get shades right away but I think it’s better to wait since they cost more than shards. You want a death hag and probably a master.
Later on you can make anything work, all of their units are good even though shades and shards get the most attention. Just be aggressive. Defeat in detail.

Taurox is a small blender that can get 90% of all resistance with right items (if that didn't change), gorefeast, with dive animations and an aoe effect. Because of his animations in a blob, any archers targeting you will deal about as much if not more damage to friendlies. Not to mention explosive artillery. SoK is just there to mop things up before you reach the healing cap. Iirc you should have enough mass to walk through a blob and reach whatever rifles might target you too.

Raaroos don't really have a good pick for that one. My Malagor had an item that increased his spell intensity by 100% and another that that made him unspottable. It makes Malagor generate a bunch of value from his flocks of doom, and his regular pendulums melt infantry. If you add pair him with a bunch of nurgle smelly raaroos then you can also throw the leadership spell and instantly rout anything on sight. It's stupidly powerful really, like most lategame stuff raaroos can pull off.

The worst case of anti-player bias, because while S2 and Med2 have heavy anti-player bias, the AI cheats are atrociously worse in the WH games. At least in the other games its like 1 to 2 armies at most, in Warhammer its upwards to 5 armies all dedicated to end your existence, with more armies being recruited. Even with the "fix" we get scenarios where a faction you arent at war with but has aversion against you hovers over your lands like theyre enticing you into war and would much rather do that than declare war on an enemy AI faction.

That’s not anti-player bias in M2 but a bug. The entire diplomacy system is broken due to a typo in the code. You were supposed to get positive diplomacy from occupying cities. But because of a typo you get more negative diplomacy from it than if you go full genocide and exterminate every settlement. Hence why the AI always hates the player in M2.
