Visually, this looks outstanding
Design wise, it's INCREDIBLY questionable.
They've lost a lot in the way of the personality present in the original designs, and now they look a lot less distinct. Freddy losing his flattened face completely changes his uncanny, hard-to-read wide-eyed smile into "guy in an animal costume," and the eyelids aren't helping. Funtime Foxy looks fine, a lot more like a stop motion character than a living robot - not just in terms of animation but also in terms of the tufts of hair and the sharp claws. He looks like he walked out of the Fantastic Mr. Fox.

I also think Ballora losing her absurd hourglass figure does a lot of damage to the design, but she looks pretty okay. That Ennard looks outstanding.

The original Baby walks this perfect line of "genuinely cute, and also, very creepy," with a lot of charm to her big, bulky body that conveys she's strong and powerful and durable - but also a little clumsy and that her body gets in the way of her sneaking around. It's an awkward body - powerful, but inconveneint. And her face has the possum thing going on, where she looks great from most angles, but from a few specific ones, she's genuinely frightening.

This one looks like a crossdressing version of Pennywise. It's abominable.

I like SireSquawk's theory on what the plot of FNAF4 was supposed to originally be with it being very close to MemoryVictim and that in a way Dream Theory almost got FNAF4 correct, it just got it backwards. It's not that the real world influenced Crying Child's nightmares which were the FNAF games, it's the opposite - the dreams of Crying Child's influenced the real world and FNAF games are real simply being influenced by this paranormal curse from C.C and his trauma caused the events of the bite to repeat as well as causing the animatronics to act up.

It breaks the formula of there being a killer animatronic band to fend off of.
Sure we also have the phantoms but they aren't really true enemies, and they are just recolors of fnaf 1 and 2 animatronics than truly standalone designs.
You can't just set up the theme of a band of killer animatronic robots in the first two games and then switch it/ break that up to become more like a Michael Myers stand alone villain kind of theme if you get what I am saying.
What I am saying is that, fnaf 3 needed at least 1 or 2 more proper animatronic villains with unique designs, and honestly if that was the case, IMO it's very likely that 4 would have not been made due to Scott feeling 3 was incomplete or not Scary enough.

On paper I guess it does but it feels like Elizabeth and SL exist in a vacuum. If you removed Scrap Baby you could probably go from 3 to PS without missing anything important. Molten Freddy complicates it a bit but it's not too much of a stretch to assume they're the MCI robots, since he's got Freddy's face.

I know in the original Movie Foxy was fully animatronic because of his exposed skeleton parts but the withered's have even more exposed skeleton parts.

I think the gross of the first movie came from years of anticipation from both former fans and current fans to see FNaF on the big screen.
However I think that nostalgic novelty will diminish as more movies are made thus resulting in less revenue.
If we are being honest with ourselves it's not like the first movie was good anyways. 70% of it was like Hutcherson/Mike's drama, and his PTSD dream flashbacks.
Worst of all the horror aspects that were present in the game this movie was supposed to be adapting are gone. The surreal feeling of lifeless puppets movie on their own, the hallucinations, the creepy ambient noise and red herring sfx. They are missing from the movie.
Maybe it wouldn't translate well to a non-interactive medium like film but it is still missing what made fnaf, fnaf and not Poppy Playtime instead. The movie feels more like it was inspired by the Security Breach/Tales of the Pizzaplex era rather than the original trilogy. It doesn't feel like a proper fnaf 1 adaption anyways.
If the fnaf 2 movie turns out to be slop but even mildly more entertaining I am in for it. Because it appears all hopes for a faithful adaption have been lost because the vision for the original trilogy has been lost.

To be honest I always felt like the Toys were unlikeable bar Mangle and the Puppet.
To me they always felt like cookie cutter sanitized clones of the classics.
It feels like the glossy hard plastic Toy animatronic aesthetic pretty much took over the franchise starting with Sister Location. The Rockstars, Mediocre Melodies, Funtimes, and Glamrocks all are clearly derivatives of the Toy Animatronic designs.
On top of that I always found the embossed dome plastic rosy cheeks unappealing, at first when the Toys had it had it it felt like they were like those Nutcracker Toys but when every other animatronic line followed that aesthetic it felt a bit too tiring.
IMO the Toys should have leaned more into the Nutcracker aesthetic.
Regardless I always feel offput by how bright and light the colors for the Toy animatronics are. They don't really feel as scary.
I wouldn't have minded if 2 was just the Withered's the puppet and Mangle

Considering how fnaf as a whole tends to go on a downward trend in terms of sales with each new sequel that's made it's not surprising they hired some a list celebrities in a desperation move in hopes it will draw in more people.

When I was a kid there used to be this church my mom used to make me go to. I don't know why but the layout of the church, the smell, and the design of the place would give me a FNaF style vibe/sensation.
Not in the sense that there were ghosts or killers (human or robot) around but in the sense of the more light hearted side of the franchise where it is just family fun animal characters being what they were intended to be originally before being tainted.
There were no signs of animatronics or fnaf at this church but just the building design makes me feel like a fnaf location would likely have been built there.

If I were to redesign Roxy as a classic series animatronic here's the guidelines I would follow.

Sure I will agree that SotM is probably the first fnaf game that has an interesting foreground story but more or less the problem is we aren't starting with a reboot and the mimic is in the same timeline as the MCI so we have to attach every single detail from the other multiple entries in the series which is incredibly tiring. and Help Wanted is more like filler games than actual entries.
However even SotM foreground story is still kind of barebones. We have another faceless protagonist that at least has decent characterization, but when it comes to Arnold and Gregory as voiced protagonists I find Arnold to be more likeable and relatable than Gregshit.

There are so many entries in the franchise we could have multiple sections just for FNaF park

Obviously the Pizzaplex wouldn't be a one to one scale with the in game thing but it would come close.

See I just highly disagree with your entire first point. Obviously the look of the games are entirely different since they aren't point and click games being made by one guy anymore, Scott has a whole team to make games for him. I think it's completely fair to much prefer Scott's style and have no interest in Steel Wool's games, but I wouldn't call it a "downward trend" because I think credit is due, the environments in SOTM are very creepy and old, with a lot of gross rotting suits left abandoned and strung around, the animations are amazing, and the mascots look uncanny but still accurate to something that could be made for kids in the 70s. There's a lot of passion, thought and detail put into every inch of SOTM and I think it's disingenuous to write it all off as a "Poppy Playtime" clone just because they're both mascot horror free roam games, or because SOTM would be more comparable to PPT than the OG fnaf games. For me, what made fnaf what it is is Scott himself, and his ideas and storytelling. So as long as Scott has a heavy hand in the direction of the franchise and still cares, the series will still hold the same feeling for me. You can feel his influence with SOTM through the tragic family story and the rouge AI bot that was made to be a copy of its creator's dead family. I want to tap this all off with another assurance that I really do get why people wouldn't like the change and wouldn't be interested, but I just don't think it's objectively a bad thing

The thing that makes me dislike FNaF fans in general is their blind loyalty to Scott Cawthon when he would have been a literal who if it wasn't for FNaF 1.
That's why the franchise will never return to form because most FNaF fans have a parasocial relationship with Scott.
I get it maybe he's art style or writing style is your favorite thing but you have to admit at this point, starting from the book series he started leeching the brand name of FNaF and making literal who characters and weird shit like M-Preg and Bonnie Fish which isn't just appealing to me at all.

I feel like at this point Scott is too scared to start making original IPs apart from FNaF and that's why all these books that don't even have the core 4 in them have the FNaF moniker. But when you title a game like Secret of the Mimic a FNaF game it feels disingenuine.

The sad thing is no matter how much new things he writes for the newer characters he never writes Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, or Foxy with proper characterization or character development despite them being the literal stars of the franchise.
I just don't get it. Why would you design and create 4 cool characters only to never use them to their fullest ability? And what hurts is that the Mimic has had way more character development of any animatronic in any FNaF game ever and he isn't even a visually interesting character. He's basically the endoskeleton from the FNaF parts and services room and he's getting better writing than the most popular animatronics in the franchise.

What pisses me off is how much Scott cheated the core 4 animatronics by replacing them with other antagonists and giving other antagonists better writing.
The premise of fnaf is supposed to be a group of killer animal robots that roam a pizzeria at night but SotM completely abandons that notion.
Not only is the antagonist of SotM a solo villain he is not even an animal character. He is just a plain old boring robot who plays dress up. At least Springtrap despite being a solo villain uses an animal costume while the Mimic completely abandons that motiff.
The part that makes me mad? Scott cared more about writing a good story for the Mimic in SotM than he did for any other animatronics in the franchise. Not even the Glamrocks are that well written.
Scott always makes the excuse that he doesn't want to write the Freddy team's characters in fear of underwhelming his fans but goes and does this for the Mimic. It feels like he is betraying the very core of fnaf for his own self interest.
Now I wouldn't be as mad if Mimic looked more like Tiger Rock as his base form but the fact that he is just a endoskeleton, a blank slate a character with no visual appeal, he is just the stripped down and simplified literally barebones version of the animatronics we all love.
I absolutely detest the Mimic as a FNaF character much less that he is the Main villain of the series now.
He doesn't deserve to be a main fnaf antagonist in his current state. SotM should not be called a fnaf game.
If they changed SotM to make the suits the mimic possesses their own characters forming a band of villains I would be less upset. But the fact is the Mimic Betrays the thematics of fnaf entirely whilst still clinging onto the fnaf moniker.
I feel Jealous for Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy because the Mimic is literally the most boring unintersting character in fnaf to date has gotten better writing from Scott than the stars of the franchise did.

There's this other FNAF inspired game coming out soon and I forgot the name of it. It had some yellow mascot character but isn't some copy slop, and it seems to have a very strong theme specifically about nostalgia and missing your family and childhood, looked like some found footage thing with running around a colorful play-place chased by some yellow mascot. I don't think it's in the nature of someone who thought 1 through 4 were so heavy that FNAF World was needed as a palette cleanser to go full grimdark, which makes sense given his body of work prior FNAF

a M rated FNAF game has the biggest chance of happening when the series in the hands of the next generation of game devs who grew up with the franchise and want to make something aimed at other adults with FNAF nostalgia. From what I see I don't think that's happening. After the fanverse devs dropped the ball, and most are considering quitting the fnaf fandom. I think it's more likely that he hands off the franchise to one of his sons, who I doubt will change the direction much.
Let's face the facts aside from Pixelshit like ITP FNaF is never getting games as violent as the original trilogy, and even then by regular horror franchise standards it's tame other than the FNaF1 game over screen, and Freddy hallucinations, and the Springtrap rare screens.

It feels kind of bogus that a series who's bread and butter is supposed to be it's art style and subversive murderous singing animal characters, best moments are only available in a book series. Even with the comic adaptions which are kind of trash.
