Played Arcanum. Finished my first playthrough.
Genuinely love the game.
Love the story, fantasy concepts it explores game contained politcs etc.

They don't add new gameplay in particular, but they are consistently better than the base game (which sometimes had specs of comedic gold and attention to detail that hasn't been in the genre since Vampire Bloodlines, but it also mired in the sea of lazy mediocre content and underdeveloped ideas). Peril on Gorgon is more serious and tense in tone than most of the game (and combat encounters in that one are actually quite challenging on Supernova), and Murder on Eridanos is more of a laid-back detective adventure type of thing.

I've given IWD2 multiple attempts and I just hate it. In terms of mechanical flavor, actual 3rd edition (not pathfinder or other derivatives) isn't interesting and level penalties make any of the alternate races worthless.
But the real reason I dislike the game is because the dungeons suck. Really, really suck. Ugly, uninteresting, unimaginative.

I picked up Dark Envoy because I was expecting a more in depth Tower of Time, with better story and characters, and more options. Instead, it is actually a simplified and less interesting version. The one thing I really liked about Tower, the huge dungeons, are gone, replaced with tiny instances. Story and characters are pretty stock so not all that interesting there.

Envoy is great. It has a really fun rtwp system where there are a lot of spells that create surfaces or walls of stone and you draw where you want the wall to go with your mouse. So you can make shapes and split enemy groups and stuff like that. Super fun game.

My current party is a sword and board fighter that has a lot of taunts and charges and knockdowns, an ice mage who has multiclassed into healer, a dual pistols crit machinegun, and a pure elementialist mage. The classes and subclasses are fairly straightforward but you can choose two and some have synergies across them which is nice. The story, characters, and classes are fairly straightforward but fine, the thing that sets it apart from the rest of the genre is the fun drawing with your mouse spells.

Marzipan is the only companion I killed off in RT. I can sympathize with idira who just got incredibly unlucky being born a psyker and being kept around by those in charge around her as a pet fortune teller, consequently never getting sanctioned and developing a haphazard regard to the warp due to theodora/her previous bosses not teaching her any kind of restraint and ylriet SOMETIMES entertains the idea of "maybe eldar and monk- I mean humans can get along" but she's pretty half baked in the regard of "pompous eldar learns humans are more capable than they once thought" because she never really actually goes through a believable arc like that, she just constantly fucks up and then blames you for it. marz is a dark eldar though and his personality matches exactly how a deldar would act, needlessly cruel and reveling in the pain and suffering of others, plus he raided my planets in act 2 so I took my revenge on him in the arena.

DOS2 question:
I'm at the end of Act 4, and I'm out of quests and enemies and loot on the ground, but I want to farm a couple hundred thousand gold. Is there a reliable way to make money at this point? I know that in Act 2 I could've farmed infinite Charm Arrows with the Beehives but it's too late to go back to that (I'll do that for my next run). And while I still have mercenaries who haven't pickpocketed the merchants yet, it's probably not going to be enough.

I was hoping for some crafting scheme or something like a couple Google search results suggested but it's like 10 gold a craft and they only restock like 1-2 at a time so saving+reloading the game for 10-20 gold a pop is not the most time-productive activity.

Just started WotR, picked up a Skald (Battle Scion) based on some earlier recommendation (marial + buff + skill checks). When going through the class description I remember reading I can cast spells while wearing light and medium armour, however now that I'm finishing creating my character I am being recommended Arcane Armour Training to reduce arcane spell failure chance by 10%. I have a couple big boss fights left so I kind of want to make a snapshot save where all 4 characters have all available skills so I can come back to it to fuck around with build ideas for fights. Skillbooks are fucking expensive in Act 4. I honestly don't know why I didn't do it in Act 2 a few months ago when I had access to most of the skillbooks and they were cheaper. Right now, I have one character with all skills, and the remaining three have the barest minimum of shit (mobility skills, Adrenaline, cc, armours, etc.) and nothing else so they will need everything x 3. It's like 30k-50k gold for one set of books for one school of magic x 10 schools, and I "only" have like 600k gold so I might have enough for maybe 1.5 characters at this point.

I'm on Definitive Edition too, so I'm probably getting the post-nerf experience. Like one result said they made thousands of gold just from crafting and selling water arrows but I can't turn a profit with them with the merchants I can see. Another suggests explosive arrows, grenades, etc. and they all make little to no profit as far as I can tell.

Side areas in kangmaker are almost always miniboss encounters that you're not supposed to finish. That one in particular isn't but I refuse to go past getting the berries until higher lvl because swarms are fucked(I play on hard or above). My tank can hit 45 ac buffed at lvl 3, and one of those enemies you can meet at lvl 2 has a +30 to hit so there's still a fair chance for them to get hit. Star trek is already all about "the landing party", and they have specialization on the ship, security officers (fighter), science officers (mage?), captain (diplomat/bard), medical officers (healers), engineers (tech rogues basically), etc.

Yeah, crits are painful. There are some great hexes that help with that. You'll encounter another companion who can do hexes as well. Some are very powerful even if they seem simple at first glance.
It crit'd and rolled well with the 2d8... Life's rough in the early levels, some people say this is the hardest encounter of the game due to that. No shame in temporarily putting it down to Normal if it stops being fun to keep trying.

Making the Yrliet romance female-only wouldn't solve the issue, because women don't want their partner to throw up in their mouth a little bit when they think of holding their hand, and tell you as much.

Yrliet's romance plays the romance theme of the game, and it also completes the steam achievement for both starting and finishing a romance, so it's meant to be a romance, not platonic, no matter what someone says offhand on social media.

What would have solved the problems with Yrliet's content is two things:

1. She stops throwing up in her mouth when she thinks of holding your hand. I'm not even talking about sex and cuddling or anything, just stop writing scenes where she calls you disgusting as the romance goes on.

2. Call it a friendship. She no longer tells you to break things off with the other women or men. She enjoys meditating with you, and there is absolutely zero jealousy on her part. It no longer plays the game's romance theme and no longer completes the steam achievement. It is explicitly a friendship and she treats it as such and the game mechanically treats it as such.

You can have a completely non-sexual romance, that isn't the issue. In a non-sexual romance you would still want your partner to not constantly insult you and your race.

You can also have an intimate friendship. Meditating together, exploring each other's inner worlds, and this style of close bond does not require a romantic lean to it. But if that's the case, don't have her make you break things off with other romance options.

That's the main two problems with Yrliet's content and how to fix them. You don't actually have to change much, it wouldn't be hard to just change one or both of these specific aspects. We can stop going over this topic every thread.
