Will people complain about the never-ending bullshit in this game? Will they just suck it up? Will they leave, silently or otherwise? Will devs keep toning things down until the game becomes tame? Or will they nerf stuff while adding new characters that add even more bullshit, turning the game into a Frankenstein's Monster of balance?
Will they ever get rid of the kusoge players they have for devs and hire actual fucking game devs? Probably not.

The issue is the characters are all mostly pretty fun, but the bullshit they can do asks too much of the casual player. sicko kusoge/tagslop players enjoy that shit and will be able to deal with it, as they'll commit to playing. unfortunately, the devs don't seem to have anyone on staff who can really provide a) restraint and b) insight into how non-fighting game players and casual FG players think and feel.
not every fighting game fan enjoys this level of bullshit. some people want a more steady, even tempo in their fightan. but this is chaos and sensory overload. it's asking the player to juggle absurd mental stack and i don't know how sustainable that is long term. i've been playing fightan all my life and this game drains me despite having fun

I played duos with some friends day it came out, I'm probably the one who takes fighting games the most seriously even though I'm pretty shit (Master in SF6 not that that counts for much with how boosted that game is) and I'm not good at hyper fighters.
One of them (SF6 his first game, reached Master, refuses to try anything else I offer to play) was really pissed the whole time because he thought there was too much bullshit going on and he couldn't tell what was happening, he uninstalled the game.
Another has only played SF6 pretty casually and hasn't really put in any effort in learning and he thought a lot of stuff in the game was bullshit but he didn't seem upset, didn't seem interested in playing any more when we were done.
Another had a pretty good time but didn't think that the game was something he would take that seriously but was open to maybe playing again. He's played a lot of different fighting games throughout his life, more than me certainly, but when push comes to shove to nerd up in training mode and do the work needed to sweat in Ranked he's never really been interested.

All three of them are/were League of Legends players and a big factor in them not caring is they don't give a shit about any of the characters outside of maybe one or two. There aren't any fun/cool picks here, certainly none of the characters they actually liked to play in League. I'm lucky to at least have two (Blitz/Wick, still grinding tickets to unlock Blitz) but I'd have preferred plenty of other champions I played more often to have made it in the game than them.
We aren't ever going to get a real countable read on how popular the game is because it's up to Riot to share player metrics and I doubt they will outside of using milestones to brag about and push advertising, which means they are free to gaslight people that aren't playing into thinking the game is thriving and giving it a chance.

If you're talking about the trial combos, you aren't supposed to memorize and use all of them. They just exist to gradually show you what the character is capable of doing. The optimal combos that really good players are using are almost never the stuff you see in combo trials, they're usually more complex than those anyhow.
What you want to do is practice a couple combos for different scenarios and once you are comfortable doing those try and learn some more for situations you don't know. This game is an anime/hyper fighter so combos are pretty freeform anyways.

first things first: if you can't do a long combo, do a short combo. it's fine.
second: long combos aren't one million hit long thing that you have to memorize all of, it's a bunch of bite sized combos strung together. once you've messed around and learned what strings into what, you'll become able to intuit things more and more easily.
for now, just do simple stuff:
light>medium>heavy>down+heavy>jump>light>medium>heavy>special move
once you're comfortable doing that, find a way to end it with a super and you'll start doing actual damage.
finally, don't worry about the combo trial combos. the longer ones are meant to be gameplay challenges, not necessarily "stuff that is optimal/important to be able to do." just take things one step at a time and have fun learning, because there is a lot to learn and you can always improve something

a few tips
1) you are not going to learn and remember everything at once, this stuff takes time to get really engrained in your mind. what will likely happen is that you'll learn a combo, you'll notice an opportunity to go for it and you'll fumble spectacularly. then the next time you'll fumble less hard, and so on... until you get it
2) understand combo theory
you remember that game about putting the square in the square hole and the triangle in the triangle hole? it's kinda like that. what combos into what? let's say you're playing Darius and you hit them with 5M. You can follow up with 2H and then jump cancel the 2H, or you can follow up with 6H, but you can't jump cancel 6H, you'll have to follow up with a different route, which leads into my next point
3) understand the situation
you don't need to learn 20 combos, just learn a combo for midscreen and one for the corner actually you can just do LMH2H 9 LMHSX otg super

the first thing to remember is that unless these characters are in fury, they really do not do very much chip damage. so if you get stuck blocking against them for quite some time, it's not as bad as it feels. the biggest danger in this matchup comes from being clumsy in your approach, getting clipped, and then they do a big combo on you. just do your best to carefully approach by taking a step forward, blocking, over and over. at certain ranges, blitz s2 can beat jinx's regular rockets, but if you're too close or too late pressing it you'll eat shit so be careful. still it's good to be able to deter her with it. warwick can also run through projectiles by holding either s1 or 6s1, BUT he will become capable of getting hit by them the instant you release, so only use it to run through stuff that's moving moderately fast like jinx rockets/teemo slingshot
warwick super 1 is also pretty good at clipping the enemy and getting you onto them. if you can get a good angle, you can use it to cross the screen instantly, just know that you can also get shot down by anything you hit, so it'll take some trial and error to learn what you can do against all of that

hopefully the moment they will see the game is not performing according to expectations management will intervene to change direction

first thing to know is that you can press headless to smash timewinder and generally hit ekko in the process, just be careful you're not too close to the timewinder because it can hit you. since you start with 2 meter as juggernaut this is a pretty reliable option and it'll probably persuade him not to do it pretty quickly
second off, practice doing dash>super jump>jumping heavy. if you can hit ekko during the recovery of throwing timewinder, it'll make the projectile fizzle and you won't get hit, so even though it looks and feel dangerous, it's not as bad as it seems. you can generally jump over forward timewinder and jumping timewinder, but if he does the one where he tosses it up slightly so he can hit it at you, that's the one to be most careful of

The projectile invulnerability fucking sucks. You can't run through anything without getting clipped when you actually start an attack or jump. You have to be completely through the projectile and nine times out ten they will be recovered and can slap you out of the run. His run is extremely committal, too. Can't even parry out of it which is dumb. If he's running at you just press a button and he dies every time.

And no, they definitely won't. Jinx Illaoi Ahri Yasuo Ekko Vi and Darius are all better than him. His overhead is the only thing "good" about him and it has a bunch of issues such as being unsafe, parry bait and unable to be covered by assists because of the hit reaction. here is my warwick bread and butter combo ive been practicing and it seems pretty good. i like it because it has a sweep at the beginning to check for lows, after which you can get a full combo if they are opened up by it

that being said, it only connects at really close range. does anybody have some tips on how to convert into something useful from medium/max range on warwick with standing medium or heavy? whats the most you can get? for example, ahri can use her spirit rush to get behind people even from max range now, what kind of stuff should i be doing on warwick?

my buddy primarily plays darius and is good at zoning me and playing "in his circle" which is bigger than "my circle", so a lot of our engagements end up being at mid/max range as i whiff punish him, but i find that im unable to convert it into anything super meaningful. meanwhile any stray hit of his ends up being a super and 50% of my life

any suggestions/tips? my buddy is not retarded enough to let me just constantly divebomb and flip in on him so i need to mix it up on the ground too

the tutorial has pulse combos on which basically autoplays for you when you mash

the way you "play" is by trying to get hits on the other person who is trying to prevent that by keeping you out. you need to carefully manage the space you are both sharing in order to eventually find a way to go "in". once you go "in" and its your "turn" you can do a basic combo. a basic combo is something like light > medium > heavy > crouching heavy > jump after them > light > medium > heavy > one of your air specials

another good combo to learn would be something like light > medium > heavy > one of your specials > one of your supers

you really dont need more than that to start having fun, so pick a character or 2 that appeals to you and just work on that. you can add complexity over time, but all of that complexity is basically "how do i open up a defensive opponent" and "what do i do when theyre beating the shit out of me", but that can come later
