I've tried two of /agdg/'s most beloved games, Peripeteia and Ctesiphon and god damn do they have horrid level design. Levels with zero guidance, completely barren and devoid of decoration (ugly), and no sense of place at all.
Is /agdg/ really this inept at making levels? That even your best can't do it?

Also, the gross number is worthless. Gross is before even the Steam cut which you can't circumvent like taxes.

I finally have confirmation that the active players/copies sold as reported by Gamalytic are inaccurate and even tend to overestimate the actual count.

This now officially means that Tower of Kalemonvo actually sold way less than we were led to believe.

Chinese players have been coming to me recently since one fan's chinese translation was popular.
I'm surprised they wanted to subscribe to Patreon at all given the rewards aren't really worth it but they wanted some way to pay. I upload early access versions of the game there.
So, I looked at using Unifans. It seems to allow Chinese payment processors and has a functionality very similar to Patreon or Subscribestar.

It's weird, because even the h-gamedevs I know haven't mentioned the site. I guess it's just really recent? Setting up was suspiciously easy so now I'll just have to wait to see if the whole process is legit and it pays me out. I'm particularly concerned it might not account for VAT, which other sites do.

Each show that we do has What I like to call a "renew threshold" which is entirely based off of interaction and view count on each of the shows. For the main show it's higher and for the spin-off show it's lower. Because we had such a increase in growth between 2024 and 2025, And we absolutely killed the renew threshold, we are now getting a 2026 show.

If for some reason viewership starts to have a sharp decline, or for some other reason, the show starts to deteriorate, then I will probably give it one final year and then call it good. Right now I'm not worried about it so you'll have a 2026 show Even if that one tanks really hard for some reason, there will be a 2027 show to close it out. So every good show that we have, pushes the end date out another two years.

That being said, I believe 2026 will do better than 2025 because of the overhaul we're going to do to the show. Not that you asked for any of this but I'm telling you anyways.

3D monster catcher going okay so far. I now have a prototype scene where:
-Player walks up to a monster (cube) and presses A to 'catch' it (this is just to simulate player choosing their starter)
-Player can then walk up to one of 2 other wild monsters, Z-lock and then throw a pokeball type object at them
-This initiates battle, so far the Run button works and so does the Fight button but each monster only has the same basic attack to use so far
-If the player loses they are insta-teleported to a specific location (which will be something like a pokemon center) and their monster is healed
-If the player wins the wild monster disappears and the player's monster health and stats will persist into the next battle

It's been very taxing just getting here but there's still so much to do just for the basics.
-Add capture mechanic with the most basic capture device (like a standard pokeball)
-Add capture odds based on monster's remaining HP
-Items picked up already reflect in user's Item menu option during battle but item effects will have to be coded (eg potion restores x amount of health, player loses a turn)
-Give wild monsters basic battle AI
-Give wild monsters basic overworld AI
-Eventually this will include line of sight, smell (player will produce scent that can be carried by wind) and hearing
-Create new script for opponent trainers which will just be like an array of wild monsters plus better battle AI than just wild monsters have
-Add code for player swapping between monsters during battle, player loses a turn when swapping
Damn, it doesn't sound like much but based on how long its taken so far, this could be weeks of work for a pleb like me.

It spawns a new AI controller for each pawn despite most of them not needing it in that moment and it was fucking the fps, I've set up a system now where there is a preexisting amount of AI controllers and when an Ai needs to move it takes one of these and then gives it back when it is no longer moving. I've tested with 500,000 npcs and it hovers just above 30fps, outside of the movement they all have code running all the time that ages them and then kills them when they reach a certain age.

I was playing Black & White 2 and I liked how the NPCs would build the buildings and gather resources themselves, their locations would stay the same if you went far away then came back and I wanted to see if I could replicate it, I know it's not what most city builders do
