Soldier has no counter, has greatdamage, good mobility, doesn't need to aim much, still has good range compared to 70% of the cast, and the second most health. But worst of all he unlocks that basically solve any issue he might have.

Soldier is the "I want to win with the least amount of effort" class. Classes like Pyro, heavy and engi are easy too but that's only at the skill floor. If you want to be really effective as pyro or scout the game demands a lot more.

Haze has low starting hp and low starting clip.
People pick her up after getting stomped but they don't know about certain things like her clip scaling with spirit and get stomped in lane instead.
She also lacks the generic nuke/spirit damage skills that most people fall onto when they can't aim.

Her M1 being her main source of damage also means she lacks versatility in her damage. This means disarming hex and firerate slows are especially damaging to her.
Her ultimate drops off in damage very sharply if more than one person is in it, she has to pay a 6.4k Ricochet tax to get it to do work on multiple. Nothing is stopping them from using an ability to stop her ultimate as she has no inherent silence or protection.
She is also the squishiest of the M1s.

And it's like, if you want to be high MMR it's easy. Exploit the obvious patch meta (last patch it was Seven + Lightning Scroll for example), go in as a stack, and run an alt account. The best part is a lot of them stumbled into high MMR a long time ago and because the game has no rank reset, they're basically glued in that rank.

Their ego is insane, honestly fuck them. The devs are probably scared of properly fixing the matchmaking and resetting everything because they'd hurt the feelings of their ecelebs who made it their whole personality.

Personally I think the writing is pretty good compared to other hero shooters/MOBAs

There's a reason why the character interactions are really popular meanwhile you can't even find half of the overwatch character interactions online but they're put-you-to-sleep boring.


I like that the "heroes" aren't too over the top mary sue-ish type important choosen ones (although some of the recent additions are leaning that way) because what's important is the setting as a frame for all kinda of different people to be in one place. And if they're all too amazing, pure of heart, and special but there's also 75 of them it just gets stupid and it's hard to view them as people, and it also detracts from character's who are notable because of their celebrity. A Mole and his buddy being there because they owed money to a mobster really colours the world in but its also down to Earth in its own way

Too many of this genre make each character the "last of their kind", "a one and only entity", "a hero with an ability only they posess". Take McGinnis for example, she's a genuis who builds their own stuff and that stands out in Deadlock but in Overwatch there are like 8+ genuis scientist heroes. And EVERY character is an epic legend leader (like McCree or even Junk Rat), in Deadlock Holliday is just a sheriff with a famous grandfather, and other character shit on the irrelevancy of her celebrity

Why do you think the writing is bad? I think the setting is pretty great. It's a cool world with many fun ideas. OSIC, Ixia, prophet arms race. As for the zipline dialogue, it's fine, good only in comparison to its contemporaries. But pregame dialogue can only be so much anyways. Actually, a lot of it is quite amusing and really bring the characters to life: stuff like Geist recognising Pocket's jacket make but not Arin or Grey Talon's revenge speech. They're punchy and get a good bit across in the tiny window they have. Some lines stink, especially a lot of Paige's and Billy's ones, and some are flawed but they're pretty good overall especially if you compare it to overwatch. Saying they're indistinguishable is either a complete fib or complete ignorance

Those that do will remain thoroughly unexplored because it's a PvP game. NTA but honestly while the game's writing while for the most part perfectly enjoyable (Viscous still makes me cringe, and some of Billy's lines don't really stick the landing for me), i hesitate to call it anything special in the context of games as a whole. Definitely above average for PvP stuff, much like Dota is, but ultimately it still suffers from being shackled to an esports format where noone is allowed to be truly uncomfortable or even cuss (this greatly limits the impact of the banter) and everyone must move within a sponsor-dictated exclusion zone. That on top of the fact that everyone will, due to the limitations of the format, be reduced to being a toy with a chatterbox that must be able to be understood without context and never have stories of their own of any real consequence. It's fine because ultimately i'm not looking for a PvP game to wow me with text, and the performances do a lot to sell the characters, but if we're talking in those terms then i feel like pretty much everything that isn't the characters or the lookout fails to convey much of anything about the world thus far. In Deadlock magic has always existed. The malestrom (of which has occurred before) in 1899 just caused it to bleed out everywhere that it became so unlike our world in so many ways.

Buy things that help with CC instead of just resistance because that's usually what gets you killed. Like get e-shift, reactive barrier, or counterspell.

Right now sensitivity on the X and Y axis are different. So moving left and right is normal, but up and down is reduced by a percentage. You can fix this by setting "sensitivity_y_scale 1". This will make your aim even on both axis and should help when looking up/down.
