So most data indicates that playing BL4 on UVHM5 is a straight up nerf. Tougher bosses, longer kill times, for less loot. Playing on easy actually increases drop rates for dedicated boss loot.

With that in mind, is there any point in trying to play the game on UVHM? I've completed the bulk of the game on my Rafa, I was thinking about finishing off the remaining side quests, activities and collectibles then just putting the game down until UVHM gets a balance patch that actually makes it rewarding.

I like seasonal events, they're cool. But they should be micro events like Horrors of Kairos that are free. The fact that the first piece of paid DLC is How Rush saved Mercenary day (aka How Rush saved Christmas) seems retarded. Handsome Jackpot is great all year round. Assault on Dragon Keep is great all year round. Tying a paid DLC to a seasonal event seems lame.

Presumably Gearbox was working on the DLC before the game even launched. Just seems dumb that they can do a free Halloween event, but paid DLC had to be tied to Christmas. They should've done a Christmas micro event with an evergreen DLC instead.

I'm not defending the game in any way but I think your info is missing the point that the parts on UVHM are more likely to drop than on standard difficulties. The thing is you want the dedicated boss drop with the caveat that it has the Jakobs and CoV part attached to it. The legendary is only the base and you need the specific roll to put a build together. Same thing applies to the world drop purples, you're less likely to find the god rolls on hard or normal. Also I'm pretty sure certain firmware is only found at higher difficulties or there's a higher chance to find certain ones up there. Again, I'm not defending the game either, the drop rates on UHVM5 should be equal or higher to make it worthwhile.

I do remember reading that there are specific firmware that only drop on UVHM difficulties. But even with that in mind, firmware overall still drops more consistently on easy difficulties.

I'm pretty sure it is true, I've done enough farming on both difficulties for 200 hours with 100% drops toggled on to see the rate of weapons dropping with 3-4 licensed parts, it isn't a small sample size either, it's like two thousand boss kills involving me going through my inventory marking thousands of guns as trash. If you're getting info from youtubers talking about their data over 100 drops for 8 minutes, it doesn't guarantee they're correct, they did the bare minimum to upload that video.

I've only played Amon so far but they feel okay, I dislike the way every single one splits into 3 at the bottom but it's interesting at least. I really dislike how they have changed capstones however, especially on amon, pretty much every capstone I've tried feels like shit outside of the middle one of the blue tree, which actually does pretty good damage with a cryo build.

No, the DLC is in the base game's encrypted .pak, every update is like 6-15 GBs large because every minor update needs to overwrite that large file. As DLC releases, it's still encrypted in the vanilla game files, you just use an unlocker to turn it on. Right now none of the current DLC require extra files and they won't in the future, very few modern games even still add DLC as additional files. Even if it did, you're just dragging and dropping that file in the game directory and it works like a legit deluxe edition copy.

Red tree cannons will carry you through most content. Green tree is fun but needs gear and skill points to feel good, blue has great QoL skills but the action skill isn't as helpful while leveling as red tree. Vex has a legendary class com that powers up snipers and the bloodshot skill, draining health to amp damage. She has a good loop with lifesteal fueling herself to keep it going. Her blue summon tree is also really nice with lots of good nodes, her red tree is ok but the biggest problem is the ai and patching of the cat being lackluster. Harlowe can also make good use of pistols in her green tree, she can buff herself with her action skill and keep reactivating to stack even more buffs as long as she has stuff to kill to keep the skill going. Her red tree nuke is also a ton of fun but its annoying when you miss with it against a boss then have nothing going for you until it coolsdown. Rafa feels a lot like zane in borderlands 3 who is similar to mordecai, land crits and kill skills to keep your buffs going.

in uvhm you can get vile bounties from safe houses that are worth a lot of xp, almost 40% more than normal bounties and they can give legendaries. that is how people power level to 50 if you have a good way to deal with the vile enemies. otherwise you can hang out in normal or hard mode until 50, no sense having enemies 150% higher health for no reason if you're still leveling.

you can try but it will be a slog with all the extra enemy health. drop rates for legendaries aren't better on UVHM either, just a higher chance for guns to drop with more parts. save that shit for when your drops will be max level. besides side quests to unlock weapons you may want will give you xp now and a chance for some leveling gear, and getting the bosses unlocked for farming later is an investment.

I always loved the blue tree + the green tree, my build was to use rough rider as my shield to make proccing cool calm and collected easier, and run around at mach 5 with a maggie and the skill that freezes people on crit, couple shots from a maggie will proc it on any enemy that isn't cryo immune. The best thing about Zane is experimenting with what he can do, just have a look through the skill trees and what you've got and see what you can pull off. Back at launch for 3 I made a pretty simple build with him using a legendary nova shield and the class mod that destroys your shields when you activate an action skill, plus a life steal grenade, I'd just run in, throw my barrier into one group of mobs while I stood in another, boom they all die, throw a couple grenades at stragglers to get any health I lost back, rinse and repeat. You can try similar shit with his digiclone. The drone has the least interesting stuff going on but it's still pretty damn strong and can also copy your grenade mod with one of its passives.

Run blue tree (probably a bit obvious I guess) with a little bit of red tree. Focus on running and gunning while having the drone and digiclone back you up passively with good guns and grenades (unless you wanna be able to throw grenades still).

I think a lot of the complexity is behind the scenes so to speak, with lots of skills from the three trees interacting with each other to make unintended shit happen. Like Rafa with booming business and grenades being wonky as shit. Skill says that there is a chance when you critically hit an enemy to drop a copy of your grenade at their feet, and the skill can only proc once per bullet. But if you spec to have grenades be able to crit, then the crits from the grenades can drop a grenade, and the new dropped grenade is considered a new grenade so it can proc itself again and again and again. Can use grenades that drop damage puddles/artillery/copy themselves to get tons of grenade procs. Other example is they wanted Vex's bleeds to be status effects and scale off of status effect damage, they never intended for the bleeds themselves to crit and proc more bleeds.

he can either play like moze by leaning into buffing the damage of your action skill to delete everything, melee zero but not as good because lots of flying bosses, or you can play like kill skill zane where you stack kill skills and buffs while in your action skill and keep killing enemies to keep giving yourself action skill duration. there is also some grenade build that people like but it relies on a crit stacking bug that will probably be fixed. amon is pretty fun himself if you do an ordnance build. eventually you can get ordnance ammo back on hits so you walk through a whole drill site sniping dudes with the explosive antiair guns or spamming rocket launchers and just blow everything up. i haven't tried his other trees yet since i just finished leveling him to 50 last night, but once i found a decent rocket launcher and mini gun my leveling was easy.

I’d been playing with a friend of mine who plays Rafa, he’s spent the whole game using dead man walking on melee Rafa.

playing corrosive Vex and just got Prince Harming SMG with corrosive. before that I had a mish mash of SMGS, the strongest raw damage a vladof with no element, the next a shock one I used for shielded minions, and the last my corrosive SMG I clung to because I had pivoted to that type but in terms of raw damage it was undeniably the weakest and only pulled its weight on straight armored yellow health enemies. Suddenly I get this legendary with my ideal elemental type and I'm so excited I rush to a vendor and sell all my SMGs but the new one, this was mid farming Callis (the first type, not ready to farm the space witch) and the moment I switch to Prince Harming I suddenly read the fine print as im dying faster to discover that it kills you as you go if its mechanic isn't working perfect for you. This is wrong, status effects can be built around taking all-around crit chance bonuses and Vex even has a skill that increases status critical chance. But without the knife, you could only get it up to about 40-50% per proc, which can still stack on itself nigh infinitely if you don't get unlucky within the 5 second window that anything would live through bleed ticks. The knife lets it ramp 2-3x as efficiently without putting all those points into a crit build, which is a balance issue, however the intention behind the design of her bleed/status builds was done on purpose and it evidently wasn't playtested by anyone who could read.

The "Kill vile enemies" is the worst one. You need to kill 200 in total. Funniest thing is, that bosses and those two vile guys that spawn when you get to boss fight of Lictor don't count. literally do regular bounties in normal or hard mode from the starting safe house until 33 or 34. then you can start to do viles un uvhm in that area if you have decent weapons/skills to take them down quick. farming splashzone on hard for leveling gear is always a good option for purples and the occasional legendary. once 34 or so you can start to take bounties from other safe houses in western fadelands and the desert area. around level 38 or 39 you can start taking bounties in the mountains, at 42ish the bounties in eastern fadefields will be manageable. leveld a couple characters back to back last week so i was nooticing shit. divide the map like a clock with the starting safe house at 7 o'clock, the levels jump higher as you go clockwise until eastern fadefields at 5 o'clock. its fucking weird.

forgot to mention, uvhm doesn't increase drop rates for legendaries, it increases the chance for guns to roll additional parts. it gives enemies 150% extra health so no need to deal with that while you are still leveling and outleveling gear. be sure to jump into uvhm and check out the black market vending machine (google the location) to see if either of the legendaries on sale are helpful for your build. it resets after 30 minutes so if you get into a leveling groove you can come back every few levels and get a higher leveled one.

I don't know what happened but suddenly im looting tons of jakobs/order weapons that have very high damage outputs but are sticky delayed dmg so they do nohing on impact but after a moment suddenly they're mega damaged. I usually don't mind this weapon type but I've gotten several lately shotguns/smgs/snipers and while they get the job done they ruin the novelty of a jakobs weapon by not having the instant impact damage and its becoming strange having to shoot an enemy and switch to another target rapidly because you don't want to overkill everything and waste your damage. At first it was fun but now its been oversaturated and definitely killing my jakobs love

The problem is you can brute force finding 3-4 part legendaries on easy after enough drops or getting luck but they appear more often at a much lower chance on UVHM5, which doesn't translate to real world kills and time spent farming. The framework is already in place but they fucked it up. Another option would be limiting the part quality under UVHM5; there are a lot of legendaries that have their parts already locked in with few variations where this doesn't matter though.

hated Dominion City when I first ran through it rushing through the last quests underleveled, now that I'm running around doing misc sidequests and I'm proper lvl (39) I went back and its been a ton of fun, I like how shit connects with weird secret routes and how easily traversible it is despite appearance, the quests themselves have been pretty solid too

Just realized something missing from the game, its enemies dropping the weapons that they are using. Remember in the older games where you'd be cruising through an area then suddenly a bandit would spawn with some weird gun and do like 75% of your health with one shot? You kill him and he drops the gun, a sick purple that carries you for a while. We don't have moment like that. I was doing a drill site and a badass had a rocket launcher that fired 3 spiraling rockets at a time that trailed something, and he dropped so ammo.

Yep, you're shorter than all of the other players, same thing with CL4P-TP in Pre-Sequel.Also neat, it wasn't stated at launch but I believe a tool-tip has been added since; Claptrap is the only vault hunter in all 6 games to take less damage from incendiary and take more damage from corrosion.. also doesn't need to breathe on the moon's surface unlike the other PCs.

Just goes to show you how versatile, useful and overall invaluable CL4P-TP is to the team!

Looks like we have similar specs. My gut instincts say, that you should close everything in the background, enable fake fps or what ever the option is called, and use Nvidia's upscaling. The game can look smudged and sometimes ass, but it should not stutter. Your card has 8GB and you have 16GB RAM, right?

everytime the game updates and has to redo shaders for 15 minutes, the game runs buttery smooth and then turns to shit eventually

If you have even a below average amount of hand coordination you could just bind w and shift to a mouse button (right hand) and jump with your left hand at the same time, it doesn't require unnaturally positioning your thumb in a hook shape to hit both keys
