probably a higher skill floor for entry to learn the role than dps or tank, but at the highest levels of play all 3 are about even, each with their own challenges.

paladin is on the more challenging side, partly because of its small kit. when you are first starting out, a small kit may seem like a blessing, but as you get more experienced you begin to realize that means it is missing tools out of its toolbox, paladin more so than just about any other healer. doesnt mean its not fun or competitive, just that it faces unique difficulties because of it.

paladin healers playstyle is bursty medium length cooldowns (between 15 second to 1 minute) that you rotate to blast the party back up to full hp, and inbetween that you have very high output single target healing. where it lacks is something called ramp, something most other healers have where you, through a series of buffs or stacking effects, spool up your healing into tremendous constant group healing output. holy paladin doesnt do this. it heals in bursts, which can kinda make you feel like you're wanting for a button if a big group damage spike comes inbetween your cooldowns, and you have to patch things up with single target quick spot heals.

paladin also has to maintain a melee damage rotation of hammer strikes on enemies in order to generate its primary healing resource, so it can feel a bit like you are trying to dps and heal at the same time, but unlike fistweaver monk where this works well, your dps spells arent actually healing for the most part (outside of avenging crusader cooldown), just generating resources, so that can be tricky to manage (though there are talents to smooth this out) as not doing dps combos means you'll miss out on holy power to heal.

it does have very strong single target and spot healing, very strong short coolldowns, very mana efficient, and a great suite of personal defensive tech.

i love it, holy paladin is a blast once you figure it out

If you are max level you can still increase ilvl from doing quests you get motes in every treasure chest that you can combine to create raid gear. It’s slower than m+ but it’s still progression.

Also I think it’s better to not do it in heroic tier I switched to normal and I completed the various campaigns pretty fast. It’s a trade off though because technically I think it’s more efficient to do it on multiple characters to level them, but like I said there is always some annoying thing that happens when you split content like that.

>raids drop gear equal to your highest piece, have a chance of being 3 ilvls higher (higher difficulty = higher chance of upgrade)
>10 blue motes turn into a piece of gear equal to your highest ilvl piece
>each green quest reward/dungeon completion chest gives 1-2 blue motes
>killing a dungeon boss gives 1-2 blue motes
>heroic world quests and rares give extra chests and motes

meta for gearing up is get some upgrades, fill out the rest of your gear with blue mote gear (or ragequit when you get 3 pants in a row), then get some more upgrades from dailies/raids. repeat forever. once youre able to solo normal dungeons you explode in ilvl because you can farm blue motes really fast

m+ is dogshit for gearing up mains. the rewards from m+ are static. a +2 will always drop 584, a +20 will always drop 631. HOWEVER!!!!!!!!!!!! this will be great for alts. once people are giga geared they will be able to carry fresh 80s. you loot a piece of 631 gear, all quest/mote rewards scale to that piece of gear. youll be able to skip the grind

also there may or may not be a bug with heroic world mode. it gives bonus loot, but its secretly giving bonus loot in instanced content. maybe. idk. exploit early exploit often, leave it on when you dungeon grind just in case

The badass ones from Vanilla, TBC, and WotLK still remain fucking killer and sick as hell and full of flavor. After that, it’s mostly miss with a few hits.
