Things such as building Kris and Susie's rooms and preparing the tea party were made with the intention of swaying the player and the heroes, pretty ingrained in his mind as his duty but it's something Ralsei legitimately enjoys despite being his duty

I'm beginning to wonder if the Player =/= Kris mechanic is truly necessary to enjoy the best aspects of the game. Maybe it's because it's incomplete, but the story could be told through a more straightfoward manner without it, maybe?

Yeah, this route is definitely more subdued than Undertale's Genocide, but I guess that's why it's called the Weird Route. Probably means to show that jumping into villainy headfirst like you typically do in games with choice mechanics will not make you some evil mastermind, but rather a creepy weirdo who is only gonna really hurt those that trust you the most, while the rest run off or grab something heavy the minute they see you on the horizon. And Susie's hope serves to show that even in this supposedly freedom-themed route your choices don't really matter, as just like the King couldn't be swayed into good, Susie can't be pushed into evil.

What if it turns out Dess was actually unstable and highly insecure before the events of the game, meaning the cracks were present far before her disappearance? Like, she wasn't evil, but she acted as a catlyst for all the dysfunction we see, either exgerbrating or even outright starting them. I like to think Asriel, though somewhat of a boy scout, was actually fairly socially competent, while Dess was more of a loner that kept to herself and was somewhat abrasive, meaning he could regularly sass or out wit her. I know Flowery is a weird aspect of Undertale Asriel's character, but I like to think it represented that he always had a mischivious side given he was so friendly with Chara, but it was twisted via countless resets and his soulless state. Maybe with each other, both felt free to be more of themselves, where Asriel was better able to act like that obscured aspect of himself while Dess could feel comfortable with someone her age, neither needing to put up a front. I'm not sure if they had Dark Adventures. It's a fun idea, but I feel like Asriel would be involved if he was aware of the whole Dark World business. I'm leaning more towards the idea it was a Dess and Kris adventure and they had their own Asriel, to parallel the current Fun Gang makeup and to follow along the properhacy.

I think Asriel is the knight because of a few facts:
1. The Knight is clearly working with Kris. This is important because how would Dess have gotten in contact with Kris after he disappearance? And I doubt that Kris would have already been involved in this Dark World business as a young child which was when Dess disappeared. Asriel is Kris' brother, so it makes a lot more sense.
2. Asriel has not been seen, and he has an excuse for that being so. People say he is at college, but that could easily be something that Asriel lies about, and has actually stayed in Hometown instead of heading to his college.
3. Toby Fox likes to subvert expectations, and so I don't think he'll go along with what most people expect.
4. People argue against this theory stating that people would see Asriel moving around Hometown, but this exact same issue applies if you think Dess is the night. People in Hometown would see her going around and let people know.
5. People also mention the horns the knight has as an argument against it being Asriel, but Asriel does have horns, and furthermore the horns could just be a helmet that the dark knight has.

Overall, I believe the knight is going to be one of the characters we have not seen yet, who has an excuse for them not being around. These are Asriel, Papyrus, and Dess. I think it being Dess doesn't make sense for previously listed reasons, and there simply isn't enough information about Deltarune Papyrus to even theorize that it is him. That leaves Asriel for me.

Again, this issue applies to ANY character you claim to be the knight. Where would Dess hide? Also, the bunker is a perfectly good hiding place/home base for a character who needs to stay hidden.

The other issues you bring up about sneaking around confirm to me that it must be someone who has a reason for not being in Hometown, as if someone who had places to be in Hometown spent an entire night hiding in a closet until the next night, people would notice their absence, and again, I don't think it can be Dess for previously listed reasons. She disappeared as a young child seven years ago, it wouldn't make sense that she was able to contact Kris and her mother to help plan her return to the Light World, ESPECIALLY given the fact that if she is the Knight that would mean she is ALREADY MOVING AROUND THE LIGHT WORLD! Also, to respond to this. No character has a single giant eye in their head like the knight either. Obviously the knight is meant to be wearing armor. No one looks like the other aspects of the knight either.
