It's not a gaslight. Building a Blockushin that is an effective blocker is arguably harder than just trying your hand at a Front ace. You need all the same sparks and hints. You have to get all the mid-race skills. And then sabotage perfect inspiration with building a loser.
I've never lost to one. Any idiot I see running one is usually running their own Front ace, and if they do somehow manage to block my front...Neicha decides she wins today.
In 40 races I've only seen ONE built properly that completely and utterly cucked every single front runner. And then blocked her own toreina's pace and late. Schadenfreude.

I've seen my Seiun with 646 stamina, 335 guts and single circle standard distance run out of stamina before due to hitting a 12 second rushed window.

idk I have been calculating and mulling it over but basically because of how rewards double for getting 5 wins compared to 4 wins unless you can guarantee several 5 win runs and make atleast 2nd in A final (which you can get completely fucked on by RNG) going graded is a complete waste of time and effort

The upper ceiling for graded is equivalent to around 4500-5000 carats (assuming around 90% wr with variance), while the upper ceiling for open is around 2500-2700
If you however drop just 10% wr of the graded result and only make 2nd in A Final the ceiling immediately plummets to 3400-3750, 3rd it's 2300-2650 (already worse than open)
Now if your winrate goes any lower than that and you cant get a single 5-0 you're already looking at much worse rewards than a decent run in open would give you and in open league your only limitation is quite literally your intelligence
So not only is Open much more fun in terms of decision making, it also completely eliminates getting hosed by whales while also making preperation a lot more bearable
