I feel like i'm plateauing hard as Doorman. I like to use Eido's build and run around ganking people. I know some good door positions, i can combo people just fine. I mostly bully the lane -> steal the jungle -> gank -> focus down a priority target in the late game, but i feel like there's more i could be doing as the character. Especially i feel like i'm not doing enough damage, i keep getting 20k damage games as Doorman which just isn't enough. Maybe it's because i keep buying so many utility items.

And yes they DO have cooldowns, that's the significance of deadlock using a "gun" system since adds an ammo/reload system which combined with the sliding ammo mechanic adds depth and skill to being able to use weapons properly compared to every other moba where your autos have no reload system and can just be fired off endlessly. If a carry is behind on souls, they're effectively worthless as their kit doesn't give them a huge advantage inherently. It's only when they're matched or ahead that they're able to dish out good damage. Carries have to constantly make sure their macro is good to have the most effective soul lead they can get.

Compare that to almost every other character who have multiple ways to affect a fight even if they're behind. Someone like Lash definitely needs items for his damage to be meaningful but at the same time, he doesn't need to be the main damage dealer. His ult is a huge threat to clumped up enemies and his slam can knock enemies out of the air or knock them up so they can't get away as easily. Someone like viscous has his extremely good cube, his punch can disrupt enemies a lot, and his cube can be a big annoyance while giving him a ton of defense.

The only characters I can think of off the top of my head that aren't gun carries but still rely heavily on items are victor, yamato, and shiv. If they're behind they become really easy to destroy since they have no CC but they're also characters that can sometimes work with gun builds

eternus are "good" at deadlock but a plentiful amount of them are in-the-box thinkers.

Half of them think all balance issues are resolved by tweaking kit numbers because they have no concept of redesigning mechanics to work differently, they only know "X does too much or too little damage"

A lot of eternus players only maintain their rank because they play 3 top heroes and then smurf when queueing as anything else. If you threw them in a high lobby on an off hero they'd get stomped because again, they aren't actually adaptable

The icing on the cake is most of them are fucking awful at comms. Half of them are mute duelbots who offload all mental workload to whoever is capable of shotcalling the match for them. They get a bunch of kills but if they aren't on a team with a dedicated shotcaller they lose hard because a lot of eternus players only learned half of deadlock. They got really good at the mechanics, and now they're dunning kruegered into thinking they know the entire game when in reality they're fucking awful at speaking.

If they're in trouble, they don't call their location or share info on their attackers. they yell "HELP HELP HELP ON ME THEYRE ON ME". If a mid call is bad, they don't say "DONT FIGHT MID BACK UP" they just silently commit to the mid fight and then cry afterwards that it was a bad idea. Because a lot of eternus players never learned how to counter call. they never learned how to articulate more than "HELP ME" OR "ATTACK HIM". They are savant mechanic players who will get filtered down to phantom over the next two years when their little vignette of the deadlock meta expands beyond just "knowing buff timers".
