World tech level solves whatever issues you have. You can limit everything to industrial and use the mod settings to change everything you don't want to see to a higher tech level, and unlike cherry picker, it has functions to replace generated items with tech level appropriate alternatives.

They use the windows from rebuild doors and corners to function as actual greenhouses with no need for sun lamps.
They had a major flaw though in that they did not and could not have the insulation that my usual grow houses would have.
Particularly brutal winter storms could easily kill all the plants inside, as each one only had a small radiator to keep warm with.

They love warm dark places. If your bases areas are well lit and there is a massive unlit area then they will usually prioritize the huge dark warm unlit area, though not absolutely. You'll want to go all in. In vanilla (and most mods) shirts cover the entire body and pants are invisible. If a pawn wears vanilla-style invisible pants with a shirt that doesn't cover the entire body because it was designed to be worn with visible pants, that pawn will appear bottomless. Doesn't affect anything, but looks silly. And it will happen with randomly spawned pawns if they have access to both varieties.
Then again, are there really that many mods that add outfits with invisible pants? Anything that's implemented as a full outfit that covers both upper and lower body is fine (full armors, uniforms, etc). And that's pretty common among modded outfits, since it makes a lot more sense to add a single outfit that matches its texture than to split it into a part you can see and a part you can't see. Oskarslop is out, though, because he does follow the vanilla convention on this.

My biggest issue with separate houses is the space. Want to build a 6x6 room? You'll need walls on all sides, so that'll be 8x8 tiles. Almost half of those 64 tiles are just dead space.
But it gets worse. It's not a self-standing house unless all the surrounding tiles are free (otherwise you're just building conjoined houses with double walls). So that's 10x10 tiles; 100 tiles for 36 tiles of indoor space. Technically you could reduce it to 9.5x10 by putting another house right next to it so their surrounding tiles overlap, but at that point you're one step away from building apartment blocks.
And the useable to unusable ratio gets worse the smaller you go or the further you diverge from a perfect square.

All of this in a game that loves to punish you for not using space efficiently, and where pawns spend several hours each day just walking between buildings that are right next to each other. At least the former can be mitigated with mods or by lowering the difficulty, but the latter is the real killer, since it means that a colony that looks realistic won't behave realistically.

Biotech is considered the best DLC and the one that is most sci-fi / tech heavy, if you want more of that stuff it's a no-brainer
Idelogy and Royalty are ok and have good synergy, honestly you don't need either and you might find ideology a pain in the ass sometimes. Royalty adds the empire and empire-specific mechanics so if you want to role play as a vassal for Imperial cunts you might enjoy that.
Odyssey expands the base game in meaningful ways, provides an entirely new way to play, i would say it's worth the money.

I just got Odyssey, I haven't messed with gravships yet but that system along with orbital facilities, ancient caches or whatever they're called, and fishing (plus new animals and map modifiers) make it very worth picking up imo. Unlike Anomaly, even if you don't engage with the "main" part of the DLC you'll still get a lot of use out of it.

Overall a lot of the DLC stuff can be "replicated" with mods but you'd have to heavily mod the game just to get those replicated features which most of the time would be a lot jankier than their DLC equivalents anyway.

Using outfit stands plus and CE. The last time I had MO helmets was before 1.6 and using CE.

I just now actually looked into this after being spurred by others having the problem. For some reason, the stand may not have layer data for MO's added layers. I removed the Dankpyon layers from them and they place properly on the stand.
No idea if CE is somehow involved yet.

The most dangerous thing was an exfoliator ship with a small regiment of centipedes and a centurion that came before I had proper defenses, I made a line of walls and sandbags in a hurry and everyone started to fire their assault rifles while the mastodons were acting as meatshields and the 8 clawers were killing the sycthers that got close.

NL FA is performance heavy, but only starts to single-handedly bring the game down if you have a high tick rate with your colonist bar + many colonist or a fuckton of pawns visiting like with a large raid. Honestly is an acceptable TPS loss and you can get 900+ TPS on late colonies with a potato assuming you don't have other heavy mods.

I got a Thrumbo without taming inspiration, random join nor with abusive love, Katsumi just did something inappropiate.
No wonder everyone in the colony hates him.

Its the only one if you want animated faces, but if you don't mind static face mods then stuff like imozou faces or malang faces are significantly less impactful on TPS.

IMO though its worth having over a bunch of content mods and even DLC. Would sooner remove Odyssey and Anomaly before removing NL FA.

With my full modlist and all NL Facial animation mods on I do not lose my 3 speed even in late game and tend to have 4 speed 3-5 years in usually
While with Anomaly and with a reduced modlist and no facial animation my TPS just starts to die very early and only gets worse.

there is no frequency in mod options menu but there are a bunch of turn offs based on colonist bar, enemies, xenotype, gender etc
people who have issues probably have the bar animated (why) and the enemies animated so when they get a 100 doom raid with all animated faces rendered and tracked it does probably tank their performance
that said even there they could probably just run compressed raiders and limit enemy count

The game crashed, I managed to capture a male Thrumbo (after using the sentience thingy which raised the tamability to 30%).
The last save was before I tamed the male.
If your PC is not a gaming potato, don't leave it on while you do your own things or at least save just in case.

I tamed another female with the less than 2% taming chance and the male with the sentience at 30%.
Now I have 2 females, 1 male and ready to tame another male since I bought 3 sentience thingy (one was given to the tamed female to enhance the taming chance and the other 2 to the wild males).
Now that I think about it, I should have save one of those thingies in case I find an Alpha Thrumbo. Well, I haven't seen a single Alpha Thrumbo case and in the worst case scenario, I will just capture it with a psychic lance and put it to sleep until one of my tamers get a taming inspiration.
