We're not quite there for Bandai to reinvent any genres, but at least it's better than Dragon Quest.

Wouldn't call it better than Persona or SMT but it's close enough.
Also very very easily playable for an RPG I must say, we have all possible commodities such as x5 speed, outright skipping the victory screen as soon as the fight ends, and attacking before starting a fight (although this only damages 1 mon, at the tutorial it seemed like you'd be able to clear entire fights like this but it never happens again).
I rarely feel bogged down by fights, they don't last that long and you can autoheal for free afterwards

I'm relatively early on, so I've just been grinding the Central Sewers, leveling whatever I convert to about 10~ and then loading it into my main digis. Not sure if I should be taking Rookies to Champion before loading, though.

Yeah they're starters, I don't get why CS and TS treat Spirits and Armors like some sacred ultra secret evolution despite them still being weaker than Perfects.
They should be available very early on as crutches (in time stranger we have EASY metrics for that, make them available before the respective Agent Rank that unlocks a stronger evo).

So you can get some mileage out of your Agunimon or Flamedramon before MetalGreymon is available, who will be obviously stronger, while the armors have nowhere to evolve to and the hybrids will probably require some rare items so you'll spend time as them and see them fall off... Right until you get their beast upgrades at, say, Agent Rank 6 and surpass Perfects a little before Megas are available.
Instead of that I'm close to getting Perfects and haven't found a single Digiegg & I'm locked out of Lobomon until many hours later by then I'll probably have my Perfects already trained and it'd be awkward to fit him in.

Man I see people's screenshots and hear what they're saying about Time Stranger and if looks and sounds so cool but so far for me it's all just been parks and tunnels, how long until it actually gets interesting? Just rescued some kids from some aliens.

a mark of mastery is those unique statues you get from "Defeat the Ultimate Digimon". Each digimon there gives a unique farm statue when you beat them and depending on how many UNIQUE ones you have, 14 per dungeon, you can unlock the treasures accordingly. You only need 40 total but there are 56 total.

How do you get more option cards in digimon card battle?
All the packs you get from winning fights only gives you digimon cards, and the only source of option cards seems to be winning the first arena.
