I have 3 major problems with the Calvard arc
1. The Genesis are the center of the arc and they can do whatever the fuck the writers want it to. You can't get a handle on the stakes because they are literally whatever the writers pull out of their ass.
2. The characters get screentime but only to repeat their character beats. Aaron is foul mouthed and horny and crude, Feri is naive, Risette is incredibly competent, Judith is a dork but she's sexy so it's ok
3. Yes, the politics and worldbuilding are rock bottom, even the noble war was better written than this because it showed Cayenne strongarming the other nobles. It might be too subtle for some (hon hon hon) but that's why Aurelia and Wallace "visit" Victor in Legram and then Victor runs away with Olivert (because it takes those two to properly intimidate someone as badass as Victor, and if Victor thought he had to run off with Olivert then what chance do other nobles have?)

That I can agree with because it does CS2's kind of format but in almost entirely worse ways.
Act 1 is about finding Rean similar to CS2's being about Rean finding his classmates but while you pick up Ash and Musse along the way it's focused about sprit vein spots which is worse.
Act 2 is about rescuing people but Erebonia is still pre-war so you're not rescuing family members while liberating Erebonia. You're rescuing people while they aren't in all that much danger. Not to mention that while I liked having the Branch campus as a dungeon I feel like it's hard to care as much about liberating Leeves and the branch campus because liberating Trista was a goal laid out in the beginning of CS2 as one of the main thing Rean wanted to do and kept on being mentioned which built it up whereas it just kind of happens in CS4.
Act 3 probably does the shrines concept better than CS2 since it's going through rivalries but at the same time you can get through the CS2 shrines much quicker. Plus, I feel like Rutger's death isn't great and was put in just so Falcom didn't have to revive him, similar to Arianrhod. Except while Arianrhod's death worked because Rufus used it well or his character. I feel like it would have made more sense for Rutger to stick around.
CS4 is much longer than CS2 as well so the problems are exacerbated.

For snekstelles ruan segment I ended up making dunan being one of the key factors in unveiling dalmore because of the aforementioned bond he was developing with the ravens.
