It's a super dangerous fight. So what the sea dog does is that he shits himself and birthspams millions of kids to distract your ops. The higher his hp is the more effective they are at distracting your dps while the tile availability is poor.
The broodmother's deployment order check you by flingering broodlings to corrode your tank and taking up block. Much much more dangerous as ascension gets higher and the broodmother/broodlinds stop fucking around.
AoE is the preferred way to kill the boss but as long as you helidrop a blocker onto and grab him then all you have to do is not die and keep killing off the zerglings until he's dead. If you can't do either you get run over and leak tons or just die when you killed him trivially the other 99.9% of times.

It's just anti-passive setups. If you have a bunch of ranged guards, centurions, fortress defenders, ambushers and so on you'd still bender on the ground. His splitting is also significantly weakened if you can deal a large amount of damage to him so the splits die faster.
One of the best counters for example is activating Eunectes s3 on him and buzzsawing him to the shadow realm.
Remember you can scroll to the end of the floor to check who the midboss is once you reach the 3rd floor.

Like most things in IS3, things get more complicated at higher ascension once the broodmothers and broodlings stop being trivial.

No, you just learn to prioritise recruiting certain 6* and clear stages with them. It's never worth it to recruit 4*/5* in IS4 and 4* in IS3. 5* can sometimes be useful in IS3 and IS5, but their pool is limited. It's almost always better to hoard hope for the 6*

Lapp2's super convenient. s1 lets you challenge static objectives and enemies from safety. s3's global utility is good.
Ashlock's a filler fortress if you don't have horn or firewhistle. Burst damage is still good on low def content which is making a comeback.
Quercus was The IS run consistency crutch but Haruka's 4 months away if you care. Shelter's bootleg max hp and takes pressure off healers. Giving immunity to paralysis would be TOO MUCH of a nerf. Because when they give enemies paralysis immunity and elemental res immunite, NI will be fucked over twice as much as any other element, so that's unfair to just it, since every NI op will just build up the bar to do a measly 5k damage (lower than any other element) and then get fucked over. Plus if they need to make it not as strong there's already status resistance, which makes the stacks decrease every 5 seconds anyway.
