...Up until very recently, I could have SWORN Rouge was in Sonic Adventure 1. I very, very vividly remember this. She looked slightly less sexualized than she did in Sonic Adventure 2 and was a voiceless NPC just like the humans, and gave plot-relevant exposition on her ancient echidna research that would update every time you met Tikal. The recurring gag was that she kept kept losing her train of thought because she's almost always salivating at the prospect of finding the Angel Island jewel treasure (the Master Emerald).

You're telling me she was never there? I checked out every build of the game for traces of this. It's driving me nuts because I KNOW I remember this. Does anyone else kbow what I'm talking about?

I think it goes hand in hand with the journey that amy has had with sonic over the years, like in all her games up until x a lot of it feels like a girl's dumb crush, puppy love right? Even in the anime in some parts, but what makes this scene so poignant to me is the admission Amy has to herself where, when faced with the real prospect that Sonic may be gone forever, she makes the decision to keep him in her heart forever, even if she became old and gray she would have always waited for him. It elevates the love into a more real feeling thing, she LOVES him, hard, and really cute how frustrated she gets with those intense emotions and how she wants him to comfort her in that moment, and he does in a characteristically chill and confident way, and it's extraordinarily cute and lovey.
