It's never going to be this simple. Japan's ad valorem reciprocal tariff might be 15%, but there are so many category exemptions, not to mention tariffs are technically supposed to apply to country of origin which doesn't necessarily mean Japan. Look up how much of your acrylics and other cheap plastic anime crap gets made in China, then read how you're staring down another 100% tariff for Chinese goods soon.

DHL has had their shit rocked by how rapidly things have changed that they effectively are just making it up as they go. Sometimes they'll enforce the flat 80 USD specific duty regardless of declared value because they don't have the capacity to do all the paperwork. UPS is so backlogged they're chucking packages before customs.

Best option right now is to consolidate minimal shipments under 800 USD through a forwarder and get them to declare as gifts or undervalue.

I always thought Imas was never the jumping off point but the first big break. They usually want rookies or newer people for idol VAs and it provides a stable job. It helps that Imas is also pretty forgiving on missing out on lives, maybe because lives happen at least once a year so it's not that big a deal.

It's been said that Love Love fans are the ones who want their VAs to be 100% LL max all the time while it's imasPs who celebrate and almost boast when a VA can't do a live because they're super popular. Since Imas was usually an early part of their career, I'm sure Ps want to feel as if they contributed to this growth when most of the time it really isn't the case.
