do you use the gradient when weight painting? It's what I use the most, together with masking so I don't paint over the entire mesh. I only use the brush when making small adjustments, and even then I prefer using a radial gradient instead. It's smooths out a lot more than brush

oh and ofc, load up a bunch of animations into the .blend file so you can test it out. If things are turning out different in-game than they look in Blender, it's because the weights are not normalized properly

I might just be getting used to it, but I think weight painting for a TS4 rig is pretty simple. There aren't a lot of bones to worry about
