Dragonroaches should be in cocoons around maps that will eventually spawn and killing them are side objectives.

Stingrays should launch from some kind of illuminate airport that is either a side objective or main objective to destroy, kind of like bot gunships.

There, they actually fit into the LUDO NARRATIVE or whatever while also being less annoying in a video gamey kind of way.

It correlates to the XP gained from a successful mission, which in turn is largely decided by how much of a mission there is. You'll be doing pathetic amounts of liberation on low difficulty stuff, and the more XP you get, the more liberation you'll be summing up for, which comes hand in hand with higher difficulties containing more objectives to complete and more XP to earn. This also scales per planet player population to some degree but it seems a lot like the devs can personally tune that rate to whatever the hell they want it if they want to try to force a specific liberation rate vs. player count on that planet.
You can be a semantic piece of shit and argue that it's TECHNICALLY not directly correlated to the difficulty, but the difficulty causes the XP to go up thanks to the multiplicative bonus, therefore it is effectively difficulty.

I think in general a lot of squids' weirdness is due to them just not being complete when they were introduced. When they were first introduced they didn't have fleshmobs so there wasn't much between a voteless (lightest unit) and a harvester (heavy unit) so they got to make the overseers fill that gap. And even now there still isn't that much either.

Also Illuminate always have to have some kind of city area to them on every map I have seen, so they are also very limited on their biomes.

it's effectively an absolute defense by way of the armor layer being shredded/destroyed first to prevent any damage to the underlying material. if something is ablative, you essentially have to penetrate it with specialized explosives, use overwhelming force that the whole thing goes up all at once, or tear through the layering first to get to what's underneath.

If you get in the shuttle, everyone else has like 20 seconds to get in the shuttle with you before it leaves and they count as "failed to extract" which lessens req credits and xp gain as well as operational impact. You can call it freely, you just have to wait in the zone for like 2 minutes or whatever it is, and once the shuttle lands you can leave the landing zone without issue, and the plane can rest indefinitely. It depends on your CPU but generally speaking 0 SHOULD BE deepest layer that has complete access to everything, but in the past couple decades we have moved past the naive and bright eyed period of idealism in hardware and software engineering.
-1 exists because for emulation there needed to be the ability to have multiple operating systems to access level 0, but when the whole modern computer thing was thought up this was never considered and was outright impossible.
