Hm well it’s been over a year since I played Empire but my advice is go arty heavy. Hellstorms to fuck up their infantry before they reach you. 1 or two hellblasters to wipe out their cav.
Just like when you’re fighting Chaos as Empire, if any enemy unit reaches your melee units with full health you’re doing it wrong.
Get a warrior priest to ride with your cav to kill hexwraiths. Use demi with hallbeards to kill vamp cav units and monsters. Hallberds and greatswords as your frontline.

Focus on capturing all settlements in a region as it lets you activate an edict which boosts the region. After that you can follow objectives the game gives you or just do what you want. TW is a game where no plan survives contact with the enemy as you never know who’ll drag you into a war and stuff. Just try to focus on one enemy at a time and expand your realm.
Protip, don’t neglect diplomacy and don’t betray others. Every other faction will dislike you for a time and you’ll end up in multi-front wars.

first off, unlike in some other strategy games, this game is a sandbox, so you can ignore the objective completely.

First thing is to conquer your first province (each province consisted of minor & major settlements), so you can use the edict. Then you need to check the diplomacy and try to befriend some of your neighbours, sometimes it's not optimal, but wood elves are pretty isolationist and stay in their trees, and in general, fighting them sucks, so don't do it. Another faction that you might want to avoid war as long as possible is dwarfs because they hard counter you, at least until you get to the late game. As Khatep, you need to focus on the north against dark elves, and for beastmen, they can be sucks to fight because they will ambush you, but pretty passive unless you declare war on them.

Another thing you need to be aware of is Anti-Player Bias. If you haven't been involved in any war with another faction for several turns the game will force some faction to declare war on you. For newer players, I generally recommend High Elves, but for Tomb Kings, try Arkhan instead because he starts with 2 army, then just focus against the Bretonnia after that go after another Tomb Kings, Settra is the 2nd easiest after him. And because it's WH2, you'd better set the battle difficulty at least to normal and campaign on easy/normal because in that game melee units are pretty shit because of the AI cheats.

It is. I hated the UI so much that I didnt play it as much as it deserved, but its far superior to Warhammer in many ways. If the following things are something you enjoy, you'll like 3K:
- Artillery can be mounted on the walls
- AP is rare and armor matters a lot

Dragon casters are great, especially Incendiary ones, but they dont compare to Engineer imo. They dont have Mobility being their major downside: AI doesnt account for mobility buff, so it lets you engage those "lmao I marched just out of reach :^)" armies which is worth army slot alone. But not only that, engineer gives major buffs to your army. Considering you need tanky lynchpin to prevent Empire frontline from collapsing which means you want tanky Hero/Tank anyways, Engineer is that +1.

In a nutshell, it comes down to whether you want one extra dragon or extra mobility + significant army buffs. I find the mobility and the buffs are worth far more.

The old plan was 3 DLC faction packs and a campaign pack. One of the DLCs was Seameme, which was 2 factions, so that'd likely leave 4 more. Dynasties added with any meaningful volume of units (not from Troy) Caucasus guys, Elam, Aramaeans, Arabs, so those would likely be it. You could probably have expanded the deserts a little bit for what existed in northern Saudi arabia but not by much. I would have preferred a bit fatter width in the caucasus and Zagros since it's like 2-3 regions from Assur to the map edge.

Skaven are the strongest faction for a reason. Unit wise and campaign mechanics are insane. I don't know why they don't list Skaven as a great starting point for new players. They're so easy to play and the campaign mechanics make every game a cake walk. I usually conquer most of the world by turn 60 as Skaven.

So a while ago I asked about the Purple Hand thing which gave some neat bonuses and only spread 15 corruption. Only downside was if you destoryed their building (Which was 90,000 monies btw to destroy) it it'd give big debuffs, but leaving it up gave great buffs. At the end this is the message I got and nothing else happened. So the only downside I can see for that location popping up is the corruption.

hello, I'm on turn 17 playing Settra (warhammer 2) I have a couple of questions

I've conquered two other settlements, and now I have 4 total, I've built growth > resource (if the settlement has a resource) > income - in each settlement

there's a settlement to the south of me called the black pyramid of nagash, and it belongs to the sentinels, they have a full army roaming around the pyramid and it looks really strong, although they're neutral, will they attack me in the future? is taking the pyramid one of the endgame goals?

my Settra army has 20 units but its mostly spearmen and warriors, is that fine right now or should I start building advanced military buildings? I feel that my army is weak

I've just recruited another lord and I'm having him also recruit 20 units but its again, mostly spearmen and warriors

any tips or recommendations on where to expand towards next? I'm thinking north and north east

As settra go west to destroy arkhan and those 3 errantry factions along the coast, be careful, don't declare war on them all at once. Most of the time, the greenskins in the east will ignore you for the early game, but if you're worried just sign a non-aggression pact, particularly with grimgor and wurrzagh to secure your east flank. And also don't forget to use the rite to get casket of souls, it will make sieges easier.

By the late game you should've already united the whole nehekhara, and you will snowball fast. but for now, you can ignore them until you get some artillery (casket of souls & screaming skull catapult) and more armies (3 armies). Your primary objective is the book of nagash, but don't rush it because the location is all over the place.

Turn 20 is pretty early, so just roll with the skeletons, make sure to get at least 4 skeleton archers and at least 2 chariots for each army if you can. All of them will be your main damage dealer for kangz, and at any point, don't lose your warsphinx in settra's army and use it for hit and run on infantry units.

Go west along the coastline, then if you're ready, hit the dwarfs, bring at least 2 artillery and loads of archers because your infantry will be useless against them. After that, destroy the lizard, and you can fight the sentinel or destroy the remaining minor faction in the south. You can ignore wood elves, but if you want to declare war on them, make sure to autoresolve. And also, be wary of the other minor kangz faction because they might declare war on you to take your undefended settlement. Once Nehekhara is secure, you can go north to conquer the badlands or go east to the darklands.

in anatolia i pushed the armenians back, and we reached a ceasefire, they still got about 4 armies so we're just staring at each other now but i think they're going for bactria

thrace attacked and I pushed up with 2 armies pretty much killing 4 of their armies and taking 3 of their cities, we reached a ceasefire though, one of their cities I took i gave to gaul as a buffer zone
parthia seems totally eradicated by the bactrians who have around 11 armies
the gauls have been extremely peaceful they haven't even gone near my northern provinces
