Oberon has an issue that will never be addressed because it's a design issue. The frame seems like it was never meant to be seen without the shoulder armor. Thus it has those weird crushed shoulders as a cheat to make them fit under the mantle so it remains static and they don't clip. But Oberon Prime removes the mantle and reveals the weird anatomy. No buff will save Oberon from the cosmetic reality.

Full auto AoE weapons were a mistake, especially after removing self-damage by default.
They should be slow as fuck like they were originally, if anything only Archwing weapons should have the possibility of full auto AoE like Grattler because they are technically a more limited resource.
At best the self damage should have been simply capped to 1000 or something so you don't get obliterated by a gun dealing billions of damage slightly clipping you while it barely even tickles enemies due to how HP works in this game, and if anything the full self-damage reduction should have been a Primed mod.

I'm using Acceltra myself instead of Torid but even then it just makes me zoom by every room and kill everything in seconds, so whenever I want to use any sort of fun weapon I realize I'm basically LARPing and taking 5 times longer to clear missions.

It's basically a built in "make your own fixes" for frames. It isn't "mandatory", for some frames it's optional or even not needed (like Nidus or Lavos) but for most frames it's essential in taking them to the next level, whether it's just making them functional at higher levels or able to oneshot rooms at level cap.
Also keep in mind that for the past few years almost all frames release with a slightly useless ability which you can safely replace with helminth without breaking their kits.
Personally, messing around with helminth synergies is the most fun part of new frames. You can do crazy things with it.

You have to sacrifice range, which for most frames means one or more of their abilities is now useless, so its a free slot to put in another ability that scales better off of those stats like Roar or Nourish. His first ability (with augment) deals damage in an AOE that scales with enemy health. His flechette orb and photon strike scale directly with enemy level aka it will always kill enemies photon strike needs some help.
He CC's the entire map, and CC'ing an enemy (doesn't have to be CC'd by Vauban or his abilities, some status effect CC's work too) means his passive takes effect, which is a 25% roar buff. He can also use his overdriver to give himself even more damage.
