Playing through the Sky remake and I now unironically believe the Dorothy Grandmaster memes. Rean/Alisa is probably one of the most, if not the most, inorganic relationship in Kiseki. Everyone in picrel has a much more organic relationship with Rean than Alisa by far. Honestly it's expected since shill girls aren't liked 99% of the time.

I know it sounds retarded with how much this has been memed but I genuinely believe that Dorothy is a major figure in the story even if she isn't the GM.

It fundamentally depends on two things. Do you like slow life? Most of the game is, even the goodest stuff, very sincere and transparent character lesson growth. The gameplay hook is long difficult turn based battles on nightmare that play like d&d instead of fire emblem. You'll get about 30 to 40 hours of each even if you skip most npcs. Trails of Cold Steel represents a decline in quality in pretty much every possible metric for the series.
Gameplay-wise, all satisfying challenge previously present in the series is eliminated in favor of a "let's include as much cool shit as we possibly can" gameplay design ethos which simply leads to a gorillion ways to completely break the fucking game on Nightmare.
Graphics-wise, the first two CS games had straight up bad 3D graphics which were way worse than the charming sprite-based graphics which preceded them.
Main character-wise, Rean is an uber-cringy caricature of what chuuni anime characters would imagine themselves as.
Character-wise in general, there are too many in CS, leading to underwhelming character development. Every character is one-note to the point of parodizing one-note characters.
Plot-wise, CS is obviously a complete fucking mess. The curse is full-retard and the only way this series could have a worse plot is if Rean killed himself and Alisa slapped his corpse in public at the funeral.
The decision to go full-Persona was disastrous for the overall quality of the experience. At this point the series had moved fully away from the charming, Grandia-like adventure experience of FC and was now about romancing one-note girls.
The Fonz would be proud of how amazingly and gracefully Trails of Cold Steel jumped the shark.

On the surface, CS's battle system changes look like good ideas.
In practice, once you learn the games, you realize almost every boss can be either one-shotted or indefinitely delay-locked.
That's not good gameplay.
They put all of their effort into making the gameplay more varied and complex and none of their effort into actually fucking testing it.
There's a particularly busted setup later on in the series involving Gaius' S-craft which does "absolute delay" meaning it delays everything regardless of delay resistance. You can add additional delay to it using the delay stacking described in >>542754609
Problem is, you can set up a party of Gaius, Altina, Emma and either Juna or Machias and, with these parties, loop the S-craft indefinitely. Altina and Emma are both CP batteries who feed each other CP as well as Gaius, in addition to healing Gaius so he can use his version of Wild Rage indefinitely (don't remember what this craft was called). Juna/Machias manipulate the turn order to give Altina and Emma extra turns, and Altina and Emma feed Juna/Machias CP to manipulate the turn order endlessly with.
You literally go around nuking fucking everything with this party, mobs and bosses, and NOTHING ever gets a turn. Just nothing but non-stop S-crafts.
The ultimate example of Falcom's CS-era gameplay design ethos: throw a bunch of cool shit into the game without testing it.
There's no fucking way this makes it into not one but two separate games if Falcom adequately play-tested these games.
