My last opponent, went first and played Shiturai deck, makes a board with 5 negates and I played though all of them and wipes his board with Murakumo, he is left with 1 card in hand and another one in hand.
He makes a comeback and wins the duell.
Why even break through a board if the opponent can just activate shit from the grave and turn the game around.
They banned most of the good going second cards so what is the point of this shit event, when going first with engine deck can dunk on you even harder?

Red Dragon Archfiend and Triple Tactics Talent. Most decks fold to Red Reign and the main continuous spell hard carry every game since it provides recursion, full combo, protection, board breaking and other things.
The deck isn't great but if you really can't win in a low power event with it, it's mostly (totally) by skill issue.

The whole point of events like this is to allow for weaker decks to see some play outside of the current format. Allowing cards like ash and droll, while banning counters to them like called by does nothing but give the most broken decks even more power while filtering weaker decks that might have otherwise been able to compete. There are tons of pet decks that can play through or around on-board interactions but can't counter hand traps on their own and/or dont have the space to fit 6+ hand traps on top of the staples they're already bringing.

Realistically all you have to deal with as far as disruption is a spell negate and maybe a monster negate.The loaner isn't even running the Dark Magician monster negate trap.
So just anything that doesn't lose to 1 spell negate should be fine. You also want some way to deal with backrow or anti-destruction so you can stop their Mirror Force and Hidden Fortress, and a non-targeting monster removal so you can deal with Marshmallon+Swordsman, but those can also just be bruteforced through.

You can also just load up on backrow removal with Duster/Storm/Cosmic since their monsters lose most of their effects the moment Sarc is gone, and the loaner only has Ash+Veiler for non-engine so going first you'll probably win even if you draw Duster over a hand trap.

It'll remain about as relevant/irrelevant as it is now. There isn't any real power creep in the near future, it's mostly the banlist that will cycle out the current meta decks.
Looking at Yugioh meta the TCG still has Orcust+Mitsu Orcust at like 3% of its meta and OCG has it at like 4.5% for whatever that's worth. So people are still willing to play it even now that it's clear it's not a top meta contender.

The real answer is Konami makes cards and decks for profit, not balance, balance comes after profits. If Konami wasn't trying to constantly outdate old decks, the speed of the game wouldn't be increased so dramatically in short amounts of time, with few exceptions. Ergo; handtraps become increasingly viable and desirable to prevent opponent from setting up unbreakable new deck board (Maliss/Tear/Snake-eye) with any hope of being able to play on turn 2 and not instantly losing. Handtraps arent the problem, they are a patch-job for intentional game design to get you to focus on them and not corporate greed.

IMO handtraps are fine if the maximum "blast radius" is small enough and there's meaningful counterplay. I actually think Ash is fine because most decks can play through a single negate, even if it means they won't get a completely uninterrupted board. You can bait it out with a secondary starter, and it creates a skill/knowledge check because you need to know when to use it optimally. Nibiru is more devastating but you have multiple options to counterplay by getting a negate out first, not overextending, or playing through it.

Meanwhile, shit like Droll and Shifter completely shut down entire decks and the only counterplay is "pray you're holding the answer to it when it's played." Every deck needs to be able to play through both of them or their viability is out the window, and that's awful for variety.

The problem has also always existed - getting D.D. Crow'd in Edison is frustrating but doesn't feel unfair, but seeing two of this guy >>542805181 drop in the damage step and OTK you feels miserable because there's absolutely no counterplay.

I like Fiendsmith in it because it lets me add A Bao A Qute to my endboard as well as Lacrima in the GY. I should probably be using Caesar or Apo more but I like her more. It has a spell negate, a targeting negate, a monster negate, a battle fader effect, usually another monster negate or Dragoon setup, and that's about it. Its endboards are very mediocre. It also has a decent grind game with Sarc sticking to the board threatening followup but without any way to recycle spent resources it's not great at that either.
It can OTK with a gigantic Silent Magician Zero thanks to Gandora clearing the field while boosting its level, and Future Silence also being able to boost its level a bunch, but it lacks tools to really push through disruptions to pull this off reliably.

It's a bad deck that would be really easy for them to fix because its engine is fine, it just needs something better than Silent Swordsman to summon off of Ties that Bind, and some way to recycle your shit from GY/banish so you don't have to run a bunch of extra bricks to have followup.
Also the loaner is an awful build+people picking it up for the first time makes it even worse.

Just start with a structure deck and staple bundles (750 gems each in the shop). Grind through Solo and Ranked. Structure decks should be able to get you to at least the top of Silver, I assume also somewhere in Gold.
Be aware that not all archetypes are equally priced. At least HERO and Branded are expensive. Orcust is cheap (I think. Other anons can confirm/deny) and support is new. Sky Striker is also cheap and will likely receive support soon.
Black cards are XYZ. They are special-summoned like synchros but the cards sacrificed only need to be the same level.
