Not saying you don't get sad kits like Eri, but a lot of the time newfags will refuse to take into account their own account's status - dAru is a good example where she's gained so much value due to characters like Kisaki and Rio hogging special slots with no striker alternative for their kit - if you don't have those 2 but have Ako then dAru is far less value, even if she's a good investment.

if you miss those, you miss a lot of the energy and excitement surrounding those moments and you'll play with a much lonelier experience overall. then there's the ever-increasing amount of content to go through since these games require updates to story, the world, etc. it can really become overwhelming, or even simply too much to be enjoyable if you can't take it extremely slowly, and if you're willing to be extremely slow and play in areas where no one plays anymore (the world will feel much less alive), you might be better off with a single player experience that is specifically made for players like you in mind.
I've had a lot of fun in mmorpgs though, and some have kept me invested for months and months, but it's definitely the exception and not the norm.

I think the EX animation for playable shiroko terror is meant to invoke her resolve after having let go of the fallen Abydos classmates' weapons and begun to move on in the desert after the events of v1ch3, but in a style similar to what was done during her boss fight in VolF. It's a bit awkward and not as dynamic, nor is it climactic like the phase change in the boss fight.
Hell they could have had it be almost 1:1 with base Shiroko's EX animation but it feels like they couldn't help themselves with trying to mirror the spectacle but without the same context.
Its not the best but I'm sure it made some people clap when they saw the VolF callback.
