It's THE patroln't and killmog weapon. the skill ceiling filters self-reporting turbo shitters like >>542784847, >>542784970, and >>542785248. flak mode is for long distance targets more than 150m away and cluster is for everything else (generally, sometimes you want the extra bomblet range from a higher proximity trigger). by placing your shots, you can easily one-shot any enemy or group of enemies that isn't explosive immune or AP4. biggest downsides are the 5 sec stationary reload (which you can partially cancel), AP3, and the damage cone.

It's okay. Half of the fun for me is that it's the best way to test out color schemes for your OC chapters. Melee legit sucks shit because the game still insists on using those obnoxious color coordinated "attack" glows like it's Bamham but now with new enemies in which that deliberately lies to you. Like an enemy is going to glow blue for a counter but then will just hold on the fucking pose for 3 solid seconds, long after the glow went away, and only then actually attack you.

Further experimenting with performance options today yields no good results. Weirdly enough, trying to use Nvidia image scaling gave me worse performance, or at least zero noticable difference. For some dumb reason their scaler is really unintuitive and doesn't make a lot of sense. So I'm not even sure I was using it right.

Anyway, game ran fine for an entire op, never getting weird CPU spikes and staying at a consistent 50-60% utilization. Close the game and open it back up and since then I had slowdowns with some cores hitting 98% usage with zero changes in settings or biome or faction.

The darktide ranged AI is actually quite good.
They'll move from cover to cover and hide while reloading/re-charging. It can be quite overwhelming if a handful of them get entrenched and you have to play whack'a'mole while keeping some trash-mobs out of your ass.

The AI does not care about the terrain. The "thought-process" is literally hold W until in range of/helldiver is visible.

Plus you're vastly overestimating the supposed computing power required for basic navigation/pathfinding.
It would be very easy to designate supposed "cover-locations" that more preservation-minded opponents could fall back to/entrench themselves in.

It doesn't have to be some super sophisticated flowchart of analyzing the thickness of the cover to estimate its effectiveness against helldiver weaponry depending on if you're currently using the recoilless or a railgun.

Part of which can be destroyed and have the ground it stands on be deformed as well. Afaik their layout is not randomly generated, I'm pretty sure they're prefabs, but guess what you dumb fuck? Those fortresses are not the entire map. So it doesn't matter how simple they may or may not be, the AI needs to be able to navigate both that fortress and the rest of the map. Darktide does not have any of that (including mounted weapons and destructible cover)

a lot of the strategems and weapons are very poorly balanced, and a lot of the new stuff theyve added is very shallow. the game feels like a little diorama/webpage outside of gameplay.

The problem with the airburst is that sometimes I will fire it at a large group of enemies and only get like 4 kills because maybe rocks and elevation differences in the terrain. But I know for a fact if I shot that airburst and my teammates were standing there they would all die and one rocket would also find a way to kill me as well

Outposts, PoI's, Objectives, Sub-objectives - as well as a lot of basic terrain features are just static environments that you could apply a simple navigation-mesh to and designate areas in which the AI could find cover.
You can cope about le terrain being dynamic because some fag dropped a 380mm barrage, but it doesn't change that basic layout is not randomly generated.

I just don't understand how you can assume it's some monumental task to have basic bitch pathfinding and self-preservation-behaviour in an AI just because of a little terrain deformation.

That's more a failure on the map-generation if anything, you can have good AI-pathfinding without having to cook the CPU in the process on random generated terrain.

Yes. The entire internals of the shell are completely different. Not just the materials used but how it's structured. A HEAT shell hits a piece of armor, then spews out a molten hot jet of pretty much liquid metal that goes right through the armor like butter and fucks up what's inside. This only works because of the pressure and direction of the the jet. If a HEAT shell prematurely detonates (like say, on spaced armor) it does fuck and all. A time fused APHE shell will do the same exact thing as a purpose area HE shell, just with less effectiveness.
