I'm not surprised if Game Guard (well GG + swedecode) played a huge role in the cpu spikes.
I used process lasso to put GG on the lowest priority to see if I got any better performance during gameplay and any time I open up a menu I either waited 30 seconds for it to load or was stuck trying to load the menu permanently.
Even setting Game Guard to low priority still has it lock up and freeze often so the anti-cheat for some reason eats up huge swathes of cpu performance whenever you do something that, I think, communicates to the server.
Funnily enough it didn't affect starting a mission or returning to the destroyer so I don't know why the Swede bothered to implement such a shitty anti-cheat.

All dooming aside, the game just isn't in a good place right now and at the rate these swedes work, it won't be fixed any time soon. You either enjoy the game as it is and hope it gets better or you move on, it's that simple. If there's one thing they've proved by now is that they don't learn and they only listen when things get so bad that they have to. There isn't exactly hope for the future here, but I also don't think it'll be EoS anytime soon. We're coming up on Year 2 and Shams the Flim-flam Man has said he wants to keep milking this game for a long time. The only thing that matters for scoring points in the galactic war is mission completion, so technically the most efficient way to go about it would be to complete d1 missions as fast as possible. Difficulty, XP gained, side objectives completed, etc., do not contribute anything towards liberation/defense/etc.

Unfortunately. I was on Linux for a bit, which seems to work well with HD2, but then I got a new video card and couldn't get drivers to work so I came crawling back.

I've been playing for about two weeks and as I was working my way up, I found d5/d6 to be a nightmare. I pretty quickly learned how to solo objectives in d5 because the pubs were lost, dead or trying to fight it out with the third set of squid drops because they didn't kill the watchers yet. It was in d7/8 that I found pubs that either worked in pairs or moved solo and could do objectives themselves, and got rid of outposts before trying main objectives. Also, when you died, everyone waited until the guy closest to your spot called you in so you could get your shit back as opposed to it being a race for some guy 500m away to call you in.

Now I'm in d10 only and people still don't kill watchers but at least they bring sentries and know how to fight their way out of drops.

It's easy to level since you get the extended mag, muzzle brake and foregrip at level 14. It's a one-handed amped up lib carbine with even more RPM, so you chew through anything you can penetrate.

I think ragdoll is fine because it's wholey ignorable and balances out the game. It's also pretty funny at times if I'm not playing the game religiously.

My fucking issues are just balancing honestly. Like everything that takes a circus of input to perform substantially underperforms.
Eg: stuns require multiple weapon swaps, and last only a few seconds instead of properly CCing the enemy. Thus making stun weapons just stagger with a new coat of paint.
Or shit like urchins only being 4 grenades that take just as long to actually apply the stun as it would take for thermite to kill the target, which you get 3 of. Meaning you're only 33% more efficient with urchin if you're pairing it with sustained AT.
Oh and it staggers the fuck out of them making sustained eye shots even harder to perform.

For bugs and bots, it's understandable to accidentally overlook the occasional bug or marauder since those spawns are very common and nests/outposts are always spamming more. For squids though, the squid front has what I call a "run diver" problem. A lot of people are really, REALLY fucking hard filtered when it comes to fighting the squids. So they don't. The objectives on squid missions are not varied and most of the mare very easy. They often can get away with not fighting at all. They don't care about the watchers. They don't care about the drops. They don't care about the patrols. They're gonna keep RUNING. Objective? They only have to blow up like 3 things and they're gone. Outposts? Chuck some thermites on the shield and keep RUNNING. They'll just break LOS around a building and maybe have a gas dog or other gas item fuck with enemy pathfinding.

What the squids need are more objectives that force players to stop and dig in. Objectives that take time to complete. Plates to spin and balls to juggle while fighting off the enemy. Stuff like how on the bug front you occasionally need to sort through the pipes puzzle while hunters are pouncing on your ass. We need more squid objectives that require you to stick around in one place and do stuff while the voteless are dogpiling you. Objectives to filter the rundivers and force them to actually learn how to fight the squids. Until then they have a bit of a point that you don't actually need to fight the squids much at all, and that's a problem.

It doesn't help that AH has kind of fucked up enemy design in a way that sort of discourages fighting squids. Leviathans are so fucking tanky that you unironically are better off ignoring them and treating them like a stage hazard. An argument can be made that fleshmobs are a bit of the same. Most weapons cannot deal with fleshmobs in any significant quantity in a decent period of time. They're too durable and too common. I don't truly agree with that stance. I think perhaps fleshmob stats are just a tad overtuned rather than being completely fucked and worthy of ignoring them outright. There are assorted solutions to the fleshmob problem that players who fight the squids adopt. You see support weapons like the AC/GL/WASP/ABRL/NEATS leveraged to good effect vs squids. Explosive primaries like eruptor/xbow/purifier/scorcher all make short work of fleshmobs. You can even get away a bit with careful usage of stratagems against fleshmobs like carefully splattering a group with a 500kg or fucking them up with strafing run or gatling. I think fleeing from them is a step too far, but they can probably stand to be reigned in a bit.

Aside from fleshmobs perhaps being a bit overtuned, I think part of the problem is just that the squid roster is so empty. The addition of new squid units will dilute the spawning pool so that fleshmobs don't get spammed as much. The swedes need to STOP TAKING VACATIONS for that to happen though.

This doesn't fix the issue because encampments, much like side objectives, can be completely ignored by anyone that isn't interesting in getting exp and is only playing missions for liberation. You want to have more watchers spawn around main objectives, which would make sense since that's something the ayys would be interested in making sure they are guarded against helldiver infiltration. Arrowhead should play into the ayys being the most intelligent faction by making them actually actively defend main objectives where bugs and bots are either literally just a dumb bug or a robot with commie brain (no IQ).

The only fix the meatballs needs is a sense of agency that you are able to handle them in a more efficient way then mag dump until problem stops. Knee capping to slow them down or even cause them to fall over and violently thrash around attacking friend and foe. Or once you shoot all they heads they detonate killing the voteless beside them. Fleshmobs should be like fantasy slimes in that damaging them causes them to split until they're reduced down to normal voteless. Not in a way that gives them bonus HP though. Keep the total amount of HP from fleshmob to voteless state the same but now they'd have stages instead of just always being huge trolls that slap your shit. Something like:
>Stage one: The fleshmob as it currently is
>Stage two: Two half mobs that can still flail about and chunk diver HP but they can't knock you to the ground
>Stage three: Quarter mobs: smaller half mobs that now do less damage
>Stage four: Now they're down to being voteless, maybe even just voteless in their bleedout crawl state
I think it would give them some more identity other than "damage sponge."

Ryan gets to be ryan but you got to remember this will be a 4 man squad ensemble. He doesn't have to be the serious heroic helldiver. He just has to drop with him and not downplay his moments of glory with quips. Besides I said direct. He gets the correct humor. God bug city maps are so horrible, especially the nests surrounding a tall building so no stratagems can hit them since they just get blocked and you're forced to run in to close them with your 4 grenades when there are 10 holes.

I agree with this, one of the main draws of this game that really drew me in is that the divers can be getting ragdolled, blown up, maimed, and start screaming shrilly in panic but they never go, "Fuck Super Earth!" or "This is bullshit!" or waver in their convictions. It's nice to play a character that's sincere (even if the whole world is a satire).

The Laser Cannon is decent if you're on an ice planet and your team already has good AT presence. It's actually super good on squids because it can kill everything except Leviathans, you can melt Harvesters, Fleshmobs and Stingrays with relative ease. It's mostly okay against bots, and can be decent against bugs but not really my jam.

Flamethrower and Arc Thrower are just trash, and AMR can be handy for medium killing but isn't something I would pick up myself if I can help it.

I'm on SeS in 1080p and Performance mode and it's not great. the effects like static fire and draw distance is pretty poor. quality mode is just slightly clearer textures but at 30 fps compared to 60 on performance. no contest for playability.

LC is underrated on squids, doesn't handle fleshmobs or voteless quick but a gatling sentry or eruptor takes care of those, and LC can melt everything else. It's slow, but infinite ammo can't be underestimated, and on squids blue weapons are almost always retrievable.

Everything else in your list is basically correct. I took arc thrower on bugs with thermite when my confidence was low for a while, but I learned to aim at BT mouths and haven't touched it since.
