Is there a way to add a custom instruction symbol to silly tavern? Like those *information* {{user}} symbol prompts? I want to add one that tells the system to stop roleplay and start critical analysis mode.

Feels weird to be an AIfag with several artfag friends who despise it. I'd hate it too but in actuality text gen is a drug that others don't want you to have, like weed was for the longest time, and it doesn't take much power to generate an image either. That's just a bit of VRAM and patience, or a subscription. I don't smoke by the way. The only issue I have is that actual educated use of AI is a bit of a niche thing with the floods of low quality spam across sites now, which isn't about ethics, I just got sick of seeing Mexican Ghibli everywhere. Usually there's a lot of panic about replacement and all that but brother, the Indians are coming, your job is already at risk. TL;DR I have anti-AI fatigue

Is fictionlab the best option for casuals?
I've watched chai go from shitty but manageable to unusablelly bad and in my quest for something decent. I don't really use ai very much, not enough to justify very much time or money being put into creating a decent bot, but I'm really enjoying toying around with them. Maybe I'm blinded by chais shittiness but they seem way more generous with memory, they have lots of cool lore building shit for filthy casuals, and there's no chatting limits.
Is there a catch here around a corner waiting to buttfuck me? Am I desensitized by Chai or is this the best option for people who arent dedicated enough for their waifus? plz spoonfeed me like a baby bird anon, show me your world of filth and half digested worms..

I think the best way to shill/shit on a bot is to provide a log. Yes, it's easy for one to resort to

But you're still using it, you have the experience. I personally find that enjoyment is the most important aspect to a bot, like whether you enjoy interacting with it, or you find it fits a mood you enjoy, or you just find it hot. Most resort to definitions because those are the most "objective" aspect of it all, the absolute, not influenced by LLM output. To me, if I can have fun right from the beginning, that's good. A lot of the stuff on Chub fails because the greetings aren't engaging, or the defs don't say enough, or the ideas are just bad. Prose doesn't really matter to me, a bot just needs to have good fundamentals that the LLM itself will apply. Who's that character, and where am I? Why and how am I meeting with {{char}}? Shit like that.

I used to draw quite frequently and stopped entirely because of AI. It's just pointless, I wasn't very good but the AI can shit out masterpieces that take real artists hours in seconds, with only minor mistakes I can fix in photoshop really quickly. I don't mind AI, but I think I'm a weird case in that I never really enjoyed the process of drawing, I just did it because I wanted the final product. Doing clean linework in particular was fucking annoying as shit, and coloring. Literal chores.
I can understand why they're angry, though, there is an overwhelming amount of slop hitting the internet daily from people who do not know how to use imagegen properly. But getting angry when the cat is out of the bag is completely pointless and honestly, mostly virtue signalling.
If I REALLY liked drawing and the AI took my job, I'd be angry, sure, but I wouldn't morally object AI because of it. That's just dishonest.

Tell the AI (Sonnet 4.5 in this case) to make characters act realistically and self centered, then get yourself into tense dramatic scenarios like confronting your ex with the fact that you impregnated and married your daughter. The ensuing drama and conflict that sprouts is addicting. I died perhaps a dozen times and got lots of bad endings doing this because of my instructions to not make the roleplay revolve around me getting a happy ending. You could use my card and try to fuck Ciri immediately as Geralt and she would hate you. You don't have to try to romance her at all really, that's just my thing. Anyone else would probably try to kill you. Or get someone else to kill you later. It made it so it feels you have to struggle for that happy ending, and thus much more rewarding.
Sonnet 4.5 has less positive bias than Opus 4.1 so it does this Dark Incest Souls adventure better too.

Everyone is using everyone in the story. The delicate balance of give and take is another reason I like it so much. I could write 30k tokens describing all the subtext going on here from the lore that Sonnet 4.5 undertands implicitly.
