Most matches i had were 2+ people using it or more and the hitbox being that big while being that durability / ammo efficient while also being part of one of the best weapon types in the game? it just makes everything feel like shit like you said. I tried a lot of other weapons like you did too before settling on shotguns (because the trading change killed my healing pad dealer so no free melee fun) and generally it killed build variety by being THAT good. The hitbox nerf for the Xenon is generally one of the best changes to happen for the games health but it should've been done WAYYYY sooner, not 5 years later.
People will adapt but fills are still filled with lobotomized retards shooting their plasmatics at smashers so god knows how Epic will make them actually try out new stuff. besides releasing more weapons in the brand new ancient line but that makes too much sense for modern epic
