Tails contrasts Sonic, similar to Blaze in many ways, such as being bullied and insecure deep down. But where Blaze combines that with Knuckles' anti-Sonic traits to further separate herself from Sonic, Tails follows in Sonic's footsteps in direct imitation of him to bridge the gap between them.

The one who contrasts Blaze the most is Amy. There is a similar trait of intense, passionate emotion, but everything about Amy is a girl version of Sonic. She does what Sonic does, she likes what Sonic likes, she's as much of an inspiration as he is at times, but she does it with passion and enthusiasm. Blaze's whole thing is concealing those intense emotions with strict discipline, the direct antithesis to Amy being so wild and carefree by comparison. Compare Amy to how Cream & Marine are used as Blaze's equivalents to Tails, and there is a common ground here. Especially Marine, who actually contrasts Blaze as well. Where Blaze is closed off, this younger girl is much more open and enthusiastic.

Therefore, if Blaze is the Nega Sonic, then the Girl Sonic (Amy) is the Nega Tails.

Tails is a similar color to Super Sonic, Amy is a similar color to Burning Blaze.

True "Sonic" stories are never about Sonic himself, but about the development of someone else with Sonic as the vehicle/catalyst for that growth. Tails & Amy are the ones who primarily follow Sonic at all times, with growth and development being a backbone for both of their stories in the past.

Therefore, the core of Sonic stories should center primarily around Tails & Amy as the reflection of the impact Sonic has on the world. From the eyes of the Kid-Sonic who wants to be just like him, and the Girl-Sonic who is head-over-heels in love with him.

Now I know why Silvaze hate is so strong here.

Sonaze is never talked about here despite it being the most accepted ship.

If the team is "boring", that is an issue with the writing, not the characters themselves.

Sonic and Tails, or Sonic and Amy, alone should be inherently dynamic and fun in some way. Obviously, the same should also apply for Tails and Amy, in an ideal world. And thus, having all three together should lead to more dynamism or whatever.

Between Sonic and Tails, the thing about Tails as "Kid Sonic" is that he's really an Anti/Nega-Sonic at his core, but that core is overwritten with the desire to instead be "Sonic" himself.

Anti Sonic is Knuckles. Nega Sonic is Blaze. Their fundamental core is "what Sonic is not". Knuckles is Sonic's antithesis, he is against Sonic. Put them in the same room, give them the same goal, and they will find a reason to fight each other instead because they just can't agree. Put Sonic & Blaze in the same room, and even if they don't fall into fighting each other the same way, there'll still be tension and conflict here regardless because they are fundamental opposites.

Like the kind of girl who'd be the real star of a romance anime but she's in love with some bland self-insert MC with no personality.

But by pairing Amy with Sonic for the Mickey/Minnie dynamic, this pairs the idealized girl with the idealized guy, and paradoxically, this causes conflict resulting in the chase dynamic. Amy, from Tails or Nicky's perspective, would be an unattainable girl, which would be the point. But Sonic, from Amy's perspective, is an unattainable guy, which itself is the point.
