Is it worth it to came back to warframe nowadays? I've played it a lot (2k hours+) back in 2015-17. Really liked the playstyle and build variations. But after big open-world map release and abyss rework I dropped the game. It was too much FOMO and content that I cannot consume in time.

The damage that crit buff from cat provided isn't as useful as it was because there are new ways to get more damage.
Resource double was added to all companions in the form of a mod so thats also another thing that the cat lost.
Frames you can level in few minutes on plains w/o the need of the affinity buff. Weapons and rest just level passively in missions.
As for the infested foxes, they are really good. The one that can prime viral is my main companion. I haven't seen anyone use moa in quite some time.
Before the reworks I would use smeeta for everything but it's just not as good anymore.

Well they’re only going to be doing them for frames whose primes they feel are “outdated” or not much of an upgrade from the base. Frost prime is just an alternate helmet and a small amount of extra gold. Mag is the same boat of alt helmet but they got a tiny bit fancier with the gold. Ember is the same as Mag and Rhino the same as Frost. Valkyr got a decent looking prime, but still rather plain. Vauban got a great prime design though so I’m not sure why he’s getting an heirloom. I can see them doing Banshee, Loki, Saryn, Volt, Nyx, Ash, Nova, Excalibur and Zephyr for future heirlooms though. But I wouldn’t expect them to make anymore after those
