Anyone else feel like Kyo's justification for not killing the Punimon that used to be the Fangmon they defeated to be incredibly fucking flimsy? Like not even moments before that fucker was ready and willing to go for the kill so it could continue feeding on the e-Pulse of its victims with no repercussions, and we're suddenly supposed to not want it fucking dead now that it's "helpless".

It's kind of funny that Gammamon was one of those, technically, but Gammamon's "main" personality never really did anything more than act like a dumb kid. While that may be true, it showed that those are on lower priority now and with TS's success they will get the message that most playerbase care more about gameplay and 3d models and put emphasis on those even more. While that is definitely not a bad/incorrect thing in itself (coming from a person who enjoy TS but mostly as monster collecting game), I still think the Survive worldview and its application of moral alignment on digimon attribute is too interesting to let go. I would satisfy with just the story game adopting some elements of survive like character affinity and alignment in the story game.

Even Tamers, hailed as one of the most mature, made my parents snigger and say it was obviously a commercial for kids because of all the Card Slash sequences out of nowhere clearly trying to sell the idea of the digivice and collectible cards for kids.

Savers was the first one I think we can legit recommend to normal people who don't follow the franchise, because it's at about the same level as the old Shaman King, Gash Bell or other countless 2000s shonen anime, the dialogues, plot twists and fights should keep someone engaged for a low budget old fighting show.

Digimon and the general 'Monster Tamer/YGO/Beyblade' sort of anime just inherently come with the baggage of the ridiculousness of their premise. To most any outsider, the idea of taking a talking cartoon dinosaur seriously is a really big ask. Like the first Land Before Time is appreciated for what it is primarily in it's art and animation, not so much it's characters and themes.

I don't think Mecha is too comparable because the Mechs themselves don't generally talk. They're just vehicles for the actual story and characters.
I guess you could go for a similar tone as the Digimon Adventure film where there's only a couple Digimon and the ones we do see feel like threatening monsters, but that really only works for a short film like that I think. Trying to stretch that out into something more long-form just kinda misses some of the point of Digimon for the sake of being 'mature and respectable.'
