From the start, Sun/Moon seemed 80% aimed at selling a yuri pairing. But version 2.4’s Yuno storyline blew up in popularity—even people who don’t follow Wuthering Waves saw it. Kuro clearly knows its player base, so it looks like they revised Sun/Moon’s plot in response.

Some points:

Sun/Moon easter eggs remain—like their special Duet voice line—even though Augusta has no voice lines for Yuno. Feels like leftover or scrapped content.

The story ends by stressing that Augusta has erased all memory of Yuno. It’s obviously meant to establish Yuno as Master Lover-focused, but it came off awkward and heavy-handed.

Augusta herself still feels designed for yuri fans. I think she was always intended to sell that dynamic, but the Sun/Moon ship got cut. Kuro might now push Augusta × Gabe instead—it fits the “childhood friend vs. new arrival” trope and both designs appeal to yuri audiences. We’ll see in 2.7.

For context: I enjoy yuri works when they’re explicitly labeled as such. But I dislike studios hedging both ways. I play Wuthering Waves to self-insert as the male Rover and romance female characters—Yuno’s story hit that perfectly. That’s why leftover traces of Sun/Moon bother me; even fanart of them together without Rover feels uncomfortable.

This post is partly venting, partly concern: I really hope Kuro doesn’t revive Sun/Moon. If anything, I’d rather they lock Augusta to Gabe than try to make Yuno appeal to everyone.

I don't understand how people keep saying this. I've been using RT on medium for a while and even in Septimont I have 0 issues with framedrops, although of course I have DLSS on. But I can still run medium RT without DLSS, with some areas having less than 60 fps on 1920x1080 resolution. But DLSS in this game is good and actually makes the graphics and smoothness better. The developers clearly want players to pull for two characters in a single version, while also preventing older characters from remaining relevant. Once you understand this, it becomes clear why Chouyuan's design feels so awkward.

Gabe?? can't be a normal attack or heavy attack DPS—otherwise, players would just team her with Sanhua, Lupa, or Motefeifei and Yuno.
She also can't be a Resonance Liberation or Resonance Skill DPS—because then Chouyuan, as her forced support, would have to buff those types of damage, which would indirectly benefit many older characters.

That’s why Gabe?? has to be a Sonata-focused DPS—and Chouyuan, in turn, becomes a Sonata support, which completely clashes with his character background and lore.

But this creates another issue:
Chouyuan can’t be too weak, or players will just pair Gabe?? with Lupa instead.
Yet he also can’t be too strong, because if he is, he might alter the Frollo & Cantarella team comp and undermine that recently established meta.

At this point, unless the developers are willing to compromise, they’re stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Frankly, I can’t see how they can possibly deliver satisfying changes while still forcing the Gabe-Chou pairing, blocking older characters from getting buffs, and tiptoeing around the Frollo-Cantarella team.

I assume they aren't collecting royalties or anything and that the pay for making art to train their isn't that good, so what's the motivation from the perspective of someone who needs companies hiring them for various projects?
