DoA 6 is only good if you have someone to play with, and you have money to spend. As a fighting game it's solid, but has way too many mistakes in such fields as UI, some mechanics, and predatory paywalled malpractices. Even Itagaki himself denounced it, at a point.
DoA 5 Ultimate is good and solid. Dunno about DoA 5 Final Round though, never got to touch it, but, apparently, it's even better. Never do default vanilla DoA 5, it's very milquetoast, like SF V in it's first months/years.

If they never made the Xtreme games I think DOA would still be an ongoing franchise, I enjoy the Xtreme games but I think they more than anything poisoned the franchises standing with normies.

Forgot about Psychic Force, but it actually doesn't looks as good as you think it does. Stages are largely nonexistent since characters are flying inside a literal square box at all times, and only Dreamcast version of PF 2012 EX (special updated version) actually looks good (PSOne's is crap).

I also forgot to add Jurassic Park Warpath. Despite game itself being somewhat crappy mechanics-wise, and rife with straight up broken shit, graphics, physics/interactivity and fidelity of it's models and stages are bizarrely quite good.

There are some lighting effects that are present in arcade vanilla, but not in the console version, and sheer polygon counts in models are also slightly higher (it's roughly like comparing Dreamcast's underbaked and released-unfinished-due-to-deadline original Skies of Arcadia with Gamecube's Eternal Arcadia fuller port). Ver. II of the board revision also improved FPS and graphics slightly further.

You're thinking of arcade Tekken 3, which uses different engine pipeline and factually differs little from Tekken 2 sheer graphical fidelity-wise. Console PSOne port was drastically improved, it's a completely different beast of it's own, utterly BTFO'ing arcade original.

And Bugi/Kensei only has couple characters that have similar fighting styles (because, well, duh, these are fighting styles that many use), but otherwise most of it is still original stuff. There are a fuckton of things in Bugi which never were in Tekken.

My vision for Street fighter 7

The classic controls need to go, its creating an unnecessary divide in the community. New scheme should be punch kick, special and block

People are used to the punch and kick controls from tekken, and most fighters these days have dropped the archaic arcade special move codes. A block button is much more intuitive for new players, and protecting them from cheap left right guessing situations that have pissed off gamers for years.

Remove walk and dash replace both with a run. Dash is unintuitive for both classic veterans and newcomers, it was an experiment from the dark age of sf that has lingered too long.
Also, you should be able to run backwards. This would encourage more strategic gameplay, and improve the viability of defensive strategies.

Projectiles are too strong, and need to be nerfed. Nobody likes corny af sweaty nerds who grinded to spam fireballs.

Uppercuts shouldnt beat aerials automatically. This should depend on the aerial and uppercut interacting. This would allow players more freedom in how they play.

Combos should work by pressing the buttons fast enough, with every character having established hard coded combos in their moveset page, and no other combos to prevent unforseen game breaking overpowered combos. And these should be escapable if the opponent mashes hard enough with the liklihood of escape going up the longer the combo extends. if guilty gear could come up with burst i think street fighter can come up with something better.

And lastly Street fighter should commit to a realistic artstyle, or aim for something toony like overwatch.

Tekken was developed completely from scratch, it's engine is fully in-house built unique IP thing. Besides, arcade hardware and also PSOne's hardware was worse than what Sega and Saturn were providing at the time. Saturn is technically more capable sheer hardware-wise than PSOne, so first DoA was developed for Sega arcade hardware, and for Saturn initially, and it had Itagaki's personal experience of dealing with Virtua Fighter as he was fiddling with AM1 boards at the time, when he started working at Tecmo. The "rivalry" was there, but it was mostly friendly, because Harada is factually Itagaki's kouhai and pupil, Itagaki is older than Harada, his senior and senpai, and literally his mentor and teacher on how to make video games and how to perform/do business as a lead in your own team/studio/company.

Harada and team Tekken will forever be eternally indebted to Itagaki, because his knowledge and help literally made Harada and Tekken what they are. And, to add more on top of that, Itagaki extensively and thoroughly studied and labbed Tekken, and was beating living shit out of Harada in his own games, during "home fights". They never did money-matches, however.

And game's official OP was also using very famous "Kiss In The Dark" song sung by Okumi Masami, who is actually very close friend of Megumi Hayashibara (the LITERAL eternal empress of ALL seiyuu) and sung "Try Again" OP of first Slayers TV series with her, it's ED "Kujikenaikara", and several other songs for Slayers in subsequent seasons, Image CDs, etc. This hiring alone brought heavy financial costs, because Okumi Masami was de facto one of the hottest and highly sought-for top dog songstresses at the time.

And ALSO, the game featured VA work of LEGENDARY Kikuko Inoue, who later on became to be known as "THE I-No" of Guilty Gear's fame. In Eretzvaju she is voicing game's final boss, Ihadurca, which is very foreboding and somewhat ironic (she also does couple other characters). And even by then, Kikuko wasn't just some literalwhonobody, she was EXTREMELY famous VA, she even MENTORED Megumi at a point. To say that Eretzvaju's production is GODLIKE level, considering what game it is, is to greatly underplay things.

All of this has blown the total budget waaay beyond Yuke's' "pain threshold", the game needed to sale at least 200k copies to just come out even and at least 200k more over to bring real profit, ALL IN TWO WEEKS. But it sold about ~320k in the first MONTH, totaling 608k by the end of it's release year.
