Mania isn't very good once you look past the "OH MY GOD, CLASSIC SONIC FROM MY CHILDHOOD IS FINALLY BACK" appeal. Most of the stages are just taken from previous entries and the bosses are obnoxiously designed. There's also how the game has a cynical feel to it, as the marketing went "Okay guys, we know that you despise Modern Sonic and his shitty friends. So we're going to go back to the good old days and have nothing but Classic Sonic stuff!".
Good game for people that grew up in the 90s, but overall pretty underwhelming and didn't contribute much to the franchise for everyone else.

Comic is a retelling/AU of the Modern games. The first issue starts at Sonic Adventure. The comic doesn't have to adapt all the games beat by beat, but now it has 20 years worth of stories to write about.

The only risky part about this is that it has to be written by people who aren't obsessed with Archie or heavy amounts of fanfiction/headcanon. It needs actual creativity, which this franchise can't really seem to afford.

New Sonic comic, but no Ian or Evan. Either get completely new people or keep Barnes. Ian is clearly mentally and emotionally done with this franchise and Evan just phones it in.

People talk about how Archie became better under Ian but I genuinely think that any old Sonic fan would have been able to improve Archie from the stupid romance shitfire it became in the early 2000s. Any. Sonic. Fan. You could have hired Slashy or Sparky or Snapcube or Kuta and the story they would write would be more cohesive and compelling than the psuedo-haremshit crap Archie was spewing.

The fact that Ian was able to "fix" Archie is not an achievement. Any human being that likes to be entertained could have done better. Archie at that point wasn't just messy and directionless. UNDERGROUND is messy and directionless. Archie at that time was an actual unbearable piece of trash with two writers fighting over who should be fucking who in this alleged "action adventure" comic.

I feel like a monster/villain of the week format would work well for a Sonic comic or cartoon. You don't really need these boring dialogue heavy issues with minimal action or dragged out arcs with lackluster payoff that way plus makes the actual arcs more noteworthy then
