If you have meter you can force a 50/50 but the return isn't always great, and depending on how precise your inputs are it may be difficult to execute. You can also go for throws as others have suggested but if you make a habit of it or show that you're not confident in other options you'll get fuzzy jumped. Catching fuzzy jumps can be difficult when learning, but trying to at least brings some threat back to your stagger pressure.

Wrong. Besides damage, a throw is a knockdown that you can use to meaty, go for another throw if they keep blocking, or setup almost any trap or pressure string you want (like IAD j.H > c.S / 2K, or throw in a BB after the j.H, or delay and go for a j.S or j.P followed by a command grab). You also have Wild Throw, which you can go for or threaten as a quick game ender if they're on low health. Lastly, with meter you can get ~40+%, sometimes more depending on RISC off of a throw RRC.

Final note: to get any kind of regular success out of your schemes (as a normal player) you're going to need to condition your opponent. That means training them to react a certain way to how you play or rather specific interactions with you. This goes for defence and offence; eg DPing some of their strings to make them avoid those or otherwise hesitate / limit their pressure to respect that you could DP. On offence you might repeat a specific blockstring a few times or repeatedly use a specific delay timing to lull them into thinking they've got a read on you, which you can then exploit by predicting their response. eg: after something like c.S > f.S > f.S [...] the opponent may decide to 2K because it will likely beat another f.S, or 2K after the first f.S follow-up anticipating another; you can then cancel into 5H to frametrap them or to try to catch a fuzzy jump, or cancel into Fafnir instead to beat most 2Ks etc.

Well this isn't really being nostalgic and wanting to go back to season 1 as much as it's saying "wow this new season is bad".

It seems like the general atmosphere around Strive has always been "I really hope they improve this in the next update, this is really sucking the joy out of me" rather than "I really really love this game" and the community (not GG has a whole but just Strive) seems really obnoxious and fractured. Most characters are pretty basic. If you like looping mix on knockdowns and mobility try millia. I think you might also like testament (you can pirate dlc with creamapi if you are on steam). But I don't think there is an exact 1 to 1 especially since there aren't any anti air command grabs IIRC.

I would be shocked if he does not get added in 2.0 since he seems like he would be the easiest character to add into strive.

By the way, my biggest weakness seems to be that when I do get combo'd, I don't know how to get out of it. I can block and counter sometimes, but more often I get slammed into the walls from mid stage.
