havent really played much of wh3. much more wh2. bought the malakai makaisson recently after reading the first omnibus series.

bit meh on the campagin. a bit difficult getting set up, but once i had a full stack of high end dwarf units, i found i could autoresolve and win fights I had no right in winning, like no unit losses in pic related army resolve. haven't even bothered to build some of his airships and considering bailing on this campaign (bout 90 turns in)as.

best dwarf campagin is still thorgrim grudgebearer with a good stack of ironbreakers, quallarers, grudge throwers/organ guns and just holding strong vs waves of greenskins

I've played a lot of WH3. Much more WH2 as well though. Owned ToD for a while now.

Got bored with the campaign. Half horde, half landed doesnt work for me when you still have to keep your land. Airship was meh, it just wasnt fun even for me, a guy that enjoys boxing up with artillery.

Best dwarf campaign for me is Thorek, you miss out on guns, but he makes quarrelers the single best arcing unit in the game and its funny to shit all over anyone in sieges or field battles.

Its not about retreating range itself (unless its something retarded like retreating behind mountain range / river / similar obstruction), its by design. AI intentionally places their armies so that retreating gets them out of range whenever possible. It tries to inconvenience and annoy you at every turn.
AI doesnt take into account Mobility buffs though, so with Mobility hero embedded you can catch their retreats 9 times out of 10. This is why mobility heros are so strong.

They keep swapping fire/magic damage to the point it's impossible to keep up. Grave guard had magic attacks, then they didn't. I'm 90% certain trollhammers didn't have fire attacks in WH2, but now they do. Some lords also just abstractly have magic attacks at base stats, while some need their unique weapons, etc... I'm pretty sure the guys coding stats don't even fucking know at this point and just randomly throw it on/off depending on white mood they're in.
