GK has only used backup dancers once in LiSAni for Temari if that even counts. The only other time is if you count when the next performers show up and dance the last part of the chorus or something in the Sports Day (Sumika and Misuzu's VAs randomly joined the Happy Milf final chorus which transitioned into Full Dress Party).

Tours is doing drip-fed style updates and it didn't have a massive song library at the start unlike PL (thus, didn't have large upfront costs for music licensing) so, while it might not be the revolutionary arcade game that you imagined it to be, it seems to be doing fine (probably just slightly above break even but enough for the execs/higher-up to not pull the plug like with PL).

The pronunciations are completely different in both what they actually are and in terms of how many syllables there are per character. The best you can do is hope they haven't changed the meaning of characters too much (sometimes they change it a fair bit, or it will be kanji + a hiragana and not what you expect). If something is written in pure kanji then yeah there's a good chance I can understand it, but communication? Not a hope in hell.

Some people say immersion works better than doing pure reps but I've never found that, the benefit I had from it is just that there's always someone to practice with (doing small talk with a store clerk or something) rather than having to have an audio track you speak back to.
