I'm kind of torn on feats for a throwing eldritch knight after tavern brawler and alert. Seems like mobile or the one that gives advantage for concentration checks would do the most, but both are still kind of minor concerns. I guess resilient (wisdom) would be okay too, but that's pretty minor sounding.

The level 11 perk at least lets you reroll missed attacks. Sure its not the best thing in the world, but it does have some benefit. But yeah, multiclass cheese is usually better for ranger. I haven't tested it, but 5 gloomstalker/3 assassin/2 fighter/1 war cleric seems like it would be a bit ridiculous in theory

It depends on what you're trying to achieve. Savage Attacker could be decent, if you stack enough damage dice. Dual Wielder would allow you to use an off-hand stat stick. Resilient is a boring passive, but also never bad. And then there's trading your fourth feat for a class dip.

Some meta thrower builds use Dual Wielder to be able to equip 1H weapons without the Light tag. You're playing EK as weapons auto-return thanks to Weapon Bond, right? Then you're halfway there. The concept is to have a 1H thrown weapon in one hand you'll actually use and some dagger/short sword/etc. in the other for it's positive effects. The only issue (and I tested this with EK myself) is that your thrown weapon will return to your Off-Hand which obviously lowers your DPS. I understand why it works this way on the mechanical level but I still think it's BS. Just something to be aware of before you commit yourself.

Understandable. What motivated me to run some tests is that I could equip a shield anytime, meanwhile this DW trickery is only possible if you have the Feat. And you also get +1AC just for having two melee weapons on you, which is half/third of a shield. As you mentioned the third Feat is nowhere near as evident as the first two and ASI is kinda redundant with Tavern Brawler anyways. So I'm more inclined to consider Dual Wielder as extra flexibility rather than a waste of Feat. But of course it's usefulness also depends on your companion builds as well.

There's some bug where she joins the party, but isn't properly counted as an "ally" so she can't do certain things like use guidance on anyone. I've looked into it a bit and there may be some jank way to fix it by pissing her off so much you can bribe her to like you (like other NPCs), but I haven't gotten it to work yet

Okay, so after searching a bit I found something that actually worked. Basically I had to trick the game into making her think she's an ally by using domination shit while she was polymophed, having the character dominating her leave the party before she turns back to a human, having her join and leave the party as a dominated attached character, and then it finally works right.

Was watching my sibling play their Tav and he's the kind of person that just flies by the seat of their pants as they play. He just go where the game takes them and doesn't worry about different outcomes to their choices
Anyway, they went straight to Minthara at the goblin camp and was like "sure I'll tell you where the druids are, see you there" because his plan is to betray them when they get there.
They free Halsin and then it's immediately "they're at the camp we need you" and as soon as they get there this huge battle start like Helm's Deep and they lose two companions, Zevlor and all the Tieflings in the battle die, the battle was a complete shit show

For those who don't understand it Jaheira is willing join your party during the assault of Moonrise but she technically does it in these capacities:
>Main Hail: linked to the MC as a "summon" (limited spell repertoire and zero equipment control)
>Prison: she refuses to go / dismounts
>Rooftop: "summon" just as above
>Colony: full-value companion who needs a dedicated slot (so you have to dismiss somebody)
Her dialogue doesn't implicate any of these differences but you'll see in practice. These details are where bugs like >>544736954 stem from.

Basically if you pick the option that gives you full control of her during moonrise (which makes it much easier to not have a bunch of dead harpers incidentally), it can cause that bug. Apparently it's been a thing for a while and they've just never fixed it. I don't know if it's particularly common or has some other condition

Furthermore, we have 3 typical issues that could turn Jaheira (and the Harpers) hostile / prevent her from joining / make her leave after joining:
>1. Collateral (AoE) damage to her or the Harpers (and maybe the Fists) during the assault
>2. Environmental damage (leftover Fire/Acid puddles/spikes etc.) even after combat
>3. Isobel leaving Last Light while Jaheira is recruited (theory)

The only solution for 1 and 2 is to be proactive: cancel concentration on ongoing AoEs before allies can walk into them and mop the fucking floor ASAP. Especially in the Main Hall as there's a cutscene where Isobel is spawned outside the front gate and she walks in - if anything hurts her in her path you can expect hostility from her bunch. If the source is not yours it shouldn't be a problem in theory but why risk X hours of gameplay? Needless to say it's advised to stay away from Lightning charges and thus electrocution during these fights as you can't control that.

As for 3. some players theorized that J. bugged out as she's coded in a way that Isobel leaving Last Light pisses her off - the devs obviously though the only such scenario is the successful kidnapping attempt. In practice she also leaves the Inn during the said cutscene, so having J. as an active companion when that happens nukes her Approval. The solution? Talk to Aylin first at the get together at the very end of Moonrise (after Ketheric is defeated in the Colony) and only address Jaheira afterwards. The Dame's dialogue should spawn Isobel and thus J. has nothing to bitch about when she joins your ranks.

Another variable is not having an empty party slot when being asked to join on the Rooftop. Most players don't consider this (and why would they, as they just had her as an extra follower?) and it apparently can result as summon Jaheira joining later on.

Personally, when I saw her still posing like this AFTER the Rooftop fight (where she wasn't invited to) I knew she had to be babysat. She left when we wanted to go down to the prison, walked to the Throne Room to command her Harpers to patrol the floor and switched to this battle stance while barking motivational lines. We got back from the prison, it was the same. Went to the Rooftop without her, did the needful, returned for some trading and Jaheira was still preparing for the big fight we just completed. So I had to manually tell her to join the pack, then as soon as we got to the Rooftop she just switched to auto-pilot and walked to her Colony-recruitment place.

Do I need to say more? Her whole situation is a mess and I bet the code is a big bowl of spaghetti. We can only guess where the landmines are.

Just remember that (Trader) Attitude != (Companion) Approval. With 1 and 2 the situation is simple, taking damage from you in any shape of form equals "betrayal" in your allies' eyes. There's no Temporary Hostility, they just flip and that's it. With 3 I think the massive negative Approval is hard-coded to happen, the "bypass" just ensures that there's nobody (read: Jaheira as a companion) to register that malus to. Your idea about pumping her Approval to the skies might work though, as I remember reading that a player managed to raise it high enough somehow that J. didn't want to leave even after the "Isobel leaves the Inn" hit.

Gale has a large collection and it's all meticulously painted. Eldar and Tau. He says they're the "smart" factions. Overall the best player and painter.

Shart has a Knight Lords army, but she throws it off a cliff in act 3 and starts collecting Lunar Guard marines instead.

Lazy has an exodites eldar army with lots of dinosaur toys painted like red dragons. She writes fiction about each captain in her army, their name and how they got their red dragon mount. She has them counts-as fire prisms, and makes fire breath noises during the shooting phase.

Karl has imperial guard. She calls them "her little soldiers". Many of them are unpainted, and the few that are "painted" are literally just dunked in paint, single coat, no thinning, no detailing. She talks to her models during games, encouraging them. "Ok squad, your objective is to capture that hill over there" as she moves them in the movement phase. She's the worst player in the group but she has fun.

It's a little on the nose, but the drow probably would play drukhari. Well painted, reasonable army composition, knows the rules enough to be competitive, also enjoys converting and has a lot of wyches converted to archons and the like.

Wyll has Ultramarines, painted like Ultramrines, composed straight out of the codex company descriptions. One day reads a book about Salamanders and repaints his army because "they're the good guys!".

Astarion collects corsairs. All painted to look like him. Has a short story about how they were abused and struck out on their own.

Minsc collects orks. Waauughs first turn every game and his entire army is just choppas in trukks. One warboss that has a little hampster, and one weirdboy that he says "every army needs its witch". Actually has a reasonable win rate, surprisingly.

Jaheira collects CW eldar as well, hers are painted with vines and nature themes, and she has a lot of farseers and warlocks that she says listen to nature.

Tricky question as kleptomania is all about the act of stealing and often items they have no use of. If you've been stashing all your stolen stuff in the Camp Chest I'm not sure why the Infernal Iron would go into Karlach's chest instead. You can argue it's an exception to help a friend but what if you get the urge to steal it back? That'd only cause complications. I think this boils down to the other personality traits of your character.

playing as karlach is kinda immersion breaking cause nobody ever gets burned when i touch them. astarion pulled me to the ground without issue, i could shake shadowheart awake just fine, and now lae'zel ambushes me no problem

haven't played in a while and doing a storm sorcerer playthrough right now. just got the blast pendant. i never really paid attention to it before, but this time i actually considered it if i could integrate it since i also got the spellsparkler and watersparkers.
you have to use a bonus action and then deal lightning damage equal to your lightning charges, so if you set up to get 5 charges you have the 1d8 bonus damage and 5 on top but it also costs a bonus action. and on top of that it's only once per long rest. am i missing something or is this actually just pure dogshit for so much setup, even if you totally integrate it into your build? feels like it would be mid even without all the opportunity cost and restrictions on it

Not only does EK get plenty of goodies but also focuses them in a singular direction. This is the class' biggest strength. Spellcasting should serve this aspect, not deter from it. The facts that Fighter is heavily Multi Ability Dependent to being with (and thus good spell DC is the result of specific circumstances) and that you only get access to level 1-2 spells both point to this direction. Because when you don't have to worry about being able to land spells? If you're casting them on yourselves or allies. And what kind of spells EK benefits the most from? Defensive and/or self-buffing ones. Now you can have an EK with a high-ish INT but that means you have to venture into the glass canon territory. (Or get the 17 INT Circlet from Lump - but that means your head slot is occupied for the rest of the game!) Fortunately, the best solution for survivability is the said spells. Do you see where this is going?

The short answer is that you'll learn what uses an Action (green circle on the top) and what a Bonus Action (red triangle). Afterwards all it will take a glimpse to decide what's next. The bottom bar will be mostly useful for Items and occasionally Passives (non-Lethal attacks, All-In Feat passives, Light On/Off with items that have their own source etc.). Good actor performances, good music, good cutscenes, actually artistic instead of artsy fartsy, good jrpg gameplay but with an added QTE event on your turn and enemy turns to keep you engaged, and emotional storytelling. It hits many of the same high notes as bg3, a solid rpg with exceptional audio and visual presentation.

It's a jrpg in story structure and gameplay, so don't expect the sort of decisions and choices as in bg3 since that's not the forte of jrpg's, but it does do what jrpg's are good at, which is linear story and high quality cutscenes and music.

It's also a neat success story. The studio that made it is a small studio of ex-ubisoft devs who got fed up with corporate culture and all quit together and formed a studio together, and their first game is a major success. So it's proof that the industry template is neither required nor particularly productive, and that talent and passion are what actually matters.

I remember during Early Access they were asking people to please try the evil routes and give feedback on them, so they were at least somewhat committed to the idea. Unfortunately EA was only act 1, so we didn't really know at the time that going evil would be pretty much working against your best interests (locking out of quest rewards, vendors, etc)

That's unironically a great idea. Optimally Larian would've provided additional content (including NPCs with their quests and traders) for the evil path but locking some existing one behind alignment is the second best thing. It's not like goody two shoes wouldn't have seen the Towers from the inside as you'd have to assault it regardless.

You just have to understand the Superheated and Vengeful Guardian mechanics. It's all available by Examining Grym and hovering over the entries. From the Bludgeoning Vulnerability it's not hard to guess the big hammer will be effective against him. Half of the job is positioning your 4 characters on the "islands" and keeping Grym on the move all the time by hitting with whoever is the furthest. The other is ensuring the constant flow of lava (the tap can be activated with ranged attacks) and pressing the hammer whenever he's in it's AoE. Which should be every second or third round. Where's the cheese in this?

I'd wager the shadowcurse stuff is a big portion of Act 2's content, but yeah other than that it's fine imo. It's not like killing the tieflings forces you to nuke Last Light, which is what actually kills a lot of content, but you can play nice with them even when the tiefs are dead.

I hate that Karlach's best ending is locked behind recruiting a benchwarmer I don't care about or romancing her.

We've arrived to Act 2 thinking I'm well-off but investing into traders and buying up uniques plummeted my finances. Just as I expected. As we progressed the dividends started piling up and we made it all back, then Halsin's portal ended up being the turning point that made us wealthy (again). I dumped 10kg worth of coin before the assault as Talli walks around with almost 10k in her pockets due to my previous purchases, so I'm positive she'll be able to buy up everything I loot there. I wonder how hard the early parts of Act 3 will hit my pockets.
