Its a support role. You just follow the group around and keep them from falling over. Sometimes you dispel hostile mobs but healers always piss themselves when theyre expected to.

The reasons tanks are lless common than healers is because the tank is objectively responsible for the decisions of the group. He goes first so the way the group goes is up to him. Knowing how fast and how much to pull for the group hes got and the content hes in.

It is the de facto leadership role of the game and most people are just not suited for it. A healer may have more buttons to press but he doesnt have to make choices or think about what happens next. He simply presses his buttons when required. Its a reactive, secondary role, which is why its filled up with girls and passive men.

You can wing it at the start of the season. Not knowing which packs contain casters is a disastrous situation as the season goes on. I've found that one bad pull kind of fucks the whole dungeon up. Overpulling (as in too much count) wastes minutes and will overtime the dungeon unless the dps are overgeared.
Overpulling a few packs which contain necrotic bolt-like casters that damage random players will overwhelm your available interupts and will either result in chain deaths or a wipe. It's difficult to make casters move if you're uncoordinated, pull too many, or can't los. Tanks must be more familiar with the types of mobs in a dungeon than healers, I think.

You have only small % chance of successfully crafting, if failed you lose all mats but thanks god you can buy items from the real shop to boost that chance.

There's not a lot they can do when they decide Tier sets are a thing, weapons with special effects drop from raids and all the good trinkets need to be worked for in harder content.
They've pretty much done all they can since they're clearly not diverting from that system. People are getting crafts of armour slots that aren't tier, and weapons either while they wait for the good weapon to drop or when they know they're not doing that content. Plus enchants, gems, flasks, etc.
And Engineering just being the fun profession... even if it wasn't particularly fun with this expansion.

Unless they do the Catacylsm thing with specific Archaeology fragments giving buffs in respective dungeons, except make it profession specific, there's not much more they can do unless they shift the system around the raids and dungeons.
