I'd endorse that as long as it seems like they are doing it for the good of the game and not out of shortsighted greed. A game that can't tamp down on stuff that's too powerful can only bring everything up to that thing's level of power. Would be like laying down one too many pieces of brick down on accident and then deciding the wall is just going to be a bit higher and everything else is going to have to account for that. But it's very easy to abuse nerfing to dumpster player's old units to sell them new ones.

Ultimately it does rely on Epid having enough trust to pull it off and not abusing said trust. Besides, someone really out to make a quick buck off their game probably has more subtle ways to do it than what I described.
