The best case scenario (although I wouldn't really believe it) is that their roadblock is in trying to analyze and choose who will be their new guys to make new liked characters to farm out for ages like gaining new perennial crops. But they haven't made any final decisions yet and are willing to wait until there's true confidence.

I think hypothetically they'd probably have to take even harsher compromises and just bite the bullet to see what the side effects are. Like all of the anime using cards that only hit Arc-V levels of power and comboing because that's the max an anime can take while keeping open easy space for dialogues, while all final printed versions in sets are simply given powered up effects like several past anime cards. And them deciding this compromise is worth the risk of inconsistency of representation if it still in the end makes Yugioh anime characters more visible and present on tv/internet in getting talked about or getting shared clips

Not likely, but best way would be to have multiple series running with full episodes. One a traditional YGO anime with usual plot, one thats real ygo with high paced duels that skip or abridge turns to shorten (like Structures), and one lore series thats not just shorts.

And don't make it a young kid series like Rush, make it feel at least like the next demographic up.

Duels in Vrains were even worse because even through they ditched the pendulums, links added a whole lot more complicated garbage to the game like mutual link and extra link, Yusaku duels in particular were very annoying to sit through especially with the stock footage of him going through a link gate every tie he link summoned

I think 5D's was where the cracks truly began to show because of how often Yusei or someone like him had to constantly replenish his hand because of how much resources synchro summon typically eats, back when Link shacked them it fucking killed them and fusion because without the resources to return investiment many of those decks simply could not function properly.

Nowadays links are just extenders, they don't win duels on their own and nobody even bothers trying to mutual link or extra link, Link's sole purpose is to act as a check on pendulums because if they ever returned to full power all hell would break loose yet again.
