I've always found this claim dubious. FRIEND doesn't appear in the chapter 2 weird route at all and the 2nd segment of the sword route, the segment that hints at the weird route with the ice palace and white cloak and so on, is the only segment where FRIEND doesn't appear. The evidence itself is bad, but it also would be a fucking huge thing to drop into his character arc when he still has tons of other stuff to deal with before the game finishes.
