It is. The only thing waiting for you at level 200 is further optimization as you figured. You can clear the whole game at level 199 anyway (just can't get lvl 200 achievements rewards). If you want to PvP you should consider not leveling also, the meta shifts dramatically from 199 to 200. It is way more tank oriented at lvl 200, fights are way longer and the optimization required is far higher (with some exceptions depending on the class).
The endgame of Dofus is getting rich and gear up for PvP. If you are not interested in either then yes, you will run out of content or purpose.

on Dakal 2 i managed to hit 194 (masqueraider) recently but my levelling has been slowed to a crawl, i'm slowly progging throught ebony and ice dofus.

Making kamas has been hard, my previous source of income was spamming kolo but im afraid of doing kolo right now without decent gear, been rolling with drheller set and some random pieces to get me to some decent resistances but that aint cutting anymore.

Your gear is severely outdated and you're playing a honest class. Try to scrap a 199 build and DO NOT level 200, the gap in required funds is absurd. I'd guess you already know that but Masq shines the most in 3v3 also.
There ain't many secrets to make kamas, take the profession and mage pills but the competition is very tough on mono servers. Maybe consider rolling a broken 1v1 class as an alt to farm tokens if you really only want to PvP. In any case to make good money you have to take risks and invest long term or choose the safe and slow resource farming route.

I want to start a team of 4 on one of the pioneer servers. First 3 are Hupper/Panda/Enu, don't know what to pick for last, preferably a damage dealer.

I don't want to play Cra. Xelor or Rogue look fun but I have not played in forever and it feels like a bit much in terms of complexity for ~40 second turns, especially Xelor.
Foggernaut looks fun but I don't know how good they are in PVM after the 3.1 nerfs, and how much damage Fogger brings to the table.

Any opinions/suggestions ?

Less spells, but less overlap, it has passives that effectively change how your spells/gameplay work, classes have more inherent mechanics, far more viable playstyles.
Dofus has a lot of spells but very few classes have anything to think about, use your highest damage/ap spells, buff up and kite enemies, no passives to change your gameplay, what you see is what you get. Lots of overlap in spells, things that serve the same purpose but just have a different element.
It's also about the content though, Dofus dungeons are relatively easy compared to Wakfu which really requires good teams and strategy, which is more fun in my opinion, if you prefer being stupidly powerful and being able to solo things then Dofus might be more fun.
Another thing is that in Wakfu you unlock most of what your class can do at early levels, takes much less time to get a feel for a class.

Yes it CAN be. But it can only do 1 thing at a time. The support build can't do damage, and the damage build can't heal anything.

Eni in Dofus can use it's entire kit fully at all times. A support eni in Dofus can do a damage turn or debuffing turn if no allies need help. Classes in Wakfu hyperoptimize for 1 single thing, and yeah you can optimize different things in different builds.

Wakfu doesn't have stat checks unless you're trying to run things heavily above your pay grade or run with a completely random team with no support capacity, positioning is even more important which is why Panda becomes a borderline mandatory class in the game, if you have a proper team with weak gear then you can clear dungeons you probably shouldn't be able to, the game is just harder than Dofus, it doesn't make it a stat check, it's a team composition/brain check, stats come into play when you're trying to push stasis levels, but to clear baseline S3 content? But there are many examples of this. Support Feca can't tank or damage worth anything because all passive slots and gearing goes to buffing shields. And all passive slots are occupied by shielding passives, leaving nothing for damage and tanking, and further many items, sublimations and passives give penalties to the things they don't buff.

Same thing with my ecaflip, in order to max damage, I have to occupy my passive and sublimation slots with damage stuff while also taking healing penalties. There is no way to make both sufficient at the same time. Same thing with osamodas, masq and many more. Eni is a special case cause it can transfer healing done% to final damage% or something like that.

In Dofus all classes can mostly utilize their entire kit at all times.

Fair, the recent class reworks are pretty good imo though, hopefully they'll stop changing them all the time once every class is done this time.
The content being dead is sad but it's also one of the few games that doesn't instantly thrust you into max level to play with everyone else and make the rest of the game a complete joke, which isn't a bad thing. You should still be able to find people to play with on the new server and because of ALS you can play without it just being a carry.
I don't know about the authorisation thing but at least Wakfu doesn't have bots running around all over the place, extremely rare in todays MMOs.

Support hupper did get buffs but it's much clunkier to use compared to Eni for example, and most likely still not as good due to lacking certain things.
Eni is all about raw healing power, it's just the best at healing and can provide some buffs and remove enemy resist, and at the extreme endgame converts heals into shields so it can do both, most wanted class in groups, Sadi is similar but it uses it's doll summons more and does more damage, it was overtuned since it got reworked, not sure if it still is since I don't use it.

199 is a whole experience on its own, considering there's dedicated sets that give you a taste of the power to come, and a lot of content to do at that point before reaching 200. But it's not as bad the 2nd go around when you can powerlevel or find stuff that boosts wisdom.

They've already implemented a fair share of new content and it was well received. The Retro dev team is quite well in touch with the game and what people look for in it to be fair. The new gear did not even create powercreep and mostly filled voids in the late game meta. Only real glaring mistakes they've made to me was introducing the spotted Dofus as yet another offensive Dofus and the Gobsmac Ked which quite significantly impacted PvP because it's awfully close to make other mounts/pets completely irrelevant.

Trool park was a very good feature imo. It significantly buffed dungeon farming (you can't loot card packs with soul captures in arena) with absolute minimal impact to the game and its economy. The reward is a strong, yet, not end all be all mount, it enables a lot of trading between players because of the cards rarity and has the added bonus of casual gamba dopamine. Unironically genius game design but I can understand it's a whatever addition in your perspective.

I'm fairly sure the retro team is fully aware of the aforementioned slippery slope of adding more shit. They were fairly in line with the game, mostly added stuff that were supposed to be in before 2.0 or fix some stuff that really needed to be. At one point you've got to ask yourself when Retro stops being Retro and changing or adding spells to classes is likely one such line.
I do believe we will have a retro Frigost at some point however.

It's rough at low levels. You can do some quests to get some kamas. Astrub mercenary outlaw tracks and dailies give some decent amounts. You level by grinding on shit. Also, assuming you're playing on mono, if you're not

Iop is alright. It's a tier below Sadida and Cra but you can work with it.
Add intel until your 2nd or 3rd stat threshold depending on how you feel like it and dump everything on Wisdom. At 70 free dopple stat reset into the same deal for Air.
