NTA but I would generally agree Paladins at it's best scratched the itch these games aim for better than TF2 did a lot of the time. TF2 is very good, no doubt, but mostly at casual gameplay of doing your own thing of exploring the map in minor scuffles while relying on uncoordinated pushes that are mostly a diceroll as to whether your 11 other teammates are going to do well enough to get you all across the finish line. That's all good and fun, but I feel like Paladins was actually the peak of the "strategic", "competitive" form of the hero shooter, far more than Overwatch or ranked TF2 got anyways. Paladins with all it's flaws was enraging and soul destroying at times, but when you experienced it's heights, and got high on the potential, man, was it something. I don't think any game will ever compare.

I wish I did. It was the one piece of paladins merchandise not butt ugly but of course when it was on sale I was taking a break from the game and didn't have a chance to even see it. Now the game is all but dead and there won't ever be a merch run again. I'd buy one second-hand but the only one available is some guy selling for 250 as a collector's item, so I guess I just won't have anything physical from a game I invested hours into

The worst part is, there was going to be a Yagorath makeship plushie too, at least one prototype was made, and it was so close to release that when the news that development was being stopped broke there was a moment of uncertainty over whether or not it would still be released. Unfortunately, it was scrapped. Although those Smite makeship plushies never came out either, so maybe something happened behind the scenes for all I know. There was also going to be an Io and Luna plushie later, since they were the other poll winner, but don't ask me how I know that.

I honestly wish they would just rerelease the Maeve plushie. A campaign like that would have surely worked out as people rush to get the last memento they could from the game before it really dies.

But how many of those founder's pack buyers also actively played Smite? I remember someone asking the Paladins devs why they didn't add Smite crossover skins and they replied that it was because there was so little overlap between the playerbases, because someone who played Paladins probably wouldn't be interested in the type of game Smite was and vice versa. Recently, the Smite devs gave a similar answer.

A large portion of the initial smite playerbase owned all the lo-rez games, which is why they bothered making the crossover bundles in the first place. 10+ years on, of course the people who have Fernando in smite, and Ares in paladins, will be almost all gone.
