But yeah an MMO where you could build cities and command NPC to do the trivial bullshit would be awesome. Too many "realistic" games fall in the trap of forcing people to do all the trivial bullshit work themselves and cause player burnout. Make the player focus on the big stuff not the small stuff, let players grow out of the trivial stuff so you can experience a sense of growth. The VS windmill is a good example, in the beginning you toil away at bloom and sheets but with a windmill you ease the process and feel like you accomplished something. Sadly it will never happen.

No, maybe I didn't explain myself well: the game definitely considers it as a cellar, since I use that UI mod that makes the icons for house/cellar/greenhouse appear.
What I mean is that I have a room used as a kitchen that borders a smaller room, which I dedicated to a separate cellar: what I noticed is:
1. difference in spoiling rate, which is higher in the small room than in the other
2. when I enter the smaller room, in addition to the cellar icon, the greenhouse sun icon also appears, so I don't understand what's happening.

Just because hud UI says it's a cellar doesn't actually mean the game agrees with that assessment. It saying it's a greenhouse overrides it being a cellar. When I've had that bug the only way I was able to fix it was to fill the room in completely and dig it back out again.

the esploration and adventuring is kind fun tho, I just with the game didnt have weird temporal rifts spawning inside/near your base (I hate that shit in Rimworld for example)
crafting and building is peak immersive, everything you do in your solo server is onyl thanks to your personal efforts

the learning curve is kinda weird, the Handbook tells you everything you will ever want to know about the game but its still very rewarding

Don't worry too hard about it a lot is changing in upcoming updates apparently, but youll want to begin with ritual magic to make the three magical engines, a spellforge and oculus to make spells, a cipher to clone items, a magitrix for making scrolls of spells you already have, gateways for teleporting, and a number of utility bricks like magic bridge or manaspout to traverse the terrain. At some point you can begin farming rift charges and worry about tier 2 but for now try to collect a few useful spells like grow, fertilize, excavate, or light.

The game itself has a pretty good amount of content that will take you a long time to get around to.
I played recently, got to the underground dungeon, hit the wall of selling stuff off cooldown for gears, and quit before making it to whatever the next thing was that needed elk to get to.
Most of your time will be spent doing menial survival labors.
Frankly, I do not find the grind enjoyable in singleplayer.
Conversely, having too many people abstracts things too far and it is difficult to find any motivation to do.
You do simply for the sake of doing, and not for any greater gameplay task, which is boring.
If you have a handful of equally autistic friends, this game is pretty good. Less than that, I would stick with minecraft.

a net fishing mechanic where you throw net out of the boat and gather fish that way
salmon with at least 5 different sizes from small to big that you catch with fly fishing

manta rays in tropical regions
a special fish that can only by caught in cave like rocktail and cavefish using mineral bait

I'm playing like you in singleplayer, I started a couple of weeks ago.
the price is justifiable, and at the moment I have many hours of play. Honestly it has a certain charm, graphically it is a block game but it has so many small aspects and details to make it very particular, it is not at all like Minecraft. the technological progression for me is engaging and stimulating, building and designing my base based on the evolution of techniques is among the things I prefer: you start growing berries and squeeze them to make wine? then now you need a wine cellar. Are you growing rye? well time for a windmill.

On og? They're nice but you might find help to be far away, borea is a 45m ride out from spawn so some folk will be quite far depending on the time of day.
On the weekend warrior server people are fine but you might feel a little behind since I have so much bloat installed like magic or vintage engineering.

Things we need asap:

More decorations for early game
-reed blocks
-grass doodads
-bone carving
-flint circumcisions

combat overhaul
-aoe swings side to side, no more delayed single point attacks
-no more ranged attacks from lvl 1 enemies

I remember in 1.19 for instance you could not alter temporal storms at all once the world was generated and I never saw a patch item saying that was fixed. If you want cold to be a bit more punishing then you can turn the body warmth setting or whatever it's called up to 5C. I wouldn't go any higher than that though just because the idea of someone freezing to death in 10C weather is absurd. Personally I'd also disable rifts and by extension surface driggers since it sounds like you'll already have a good bit to deal with and they'll still be waiting for you in the caves.

I had so much meat from my last culling that most if it went to waste because I couldn't smoke it or salt it fast enough. The eventual compost is still useful though so it's not a big deal. I already have a bunch of preserved meat.

The only thing that would take ages is soaking and seasoning/drying wood. Funny thing is, we already technically have that in the game with bowstave drying, so it's clearly modeled. At worst you'd maybe have to prioritize hardwoods like oak, maple and ash if you wanted to build certain things. I have no idea where it's be appropriate to take an acceptable break from reality, but we already have systems like leatherworking with are mostly faithful to the real thing.

I think at the very least you could have splitting planks with a froe and sawing, in additon to carving with an adze. I understand that getting the saw for planks is an important "gating" mechanic, but you can always change the recipes for things like doors and chests to require metal.

Anyways, this is the one game I can think of that shouldn't be afraid to shy away from realism, so long as it's reasonably constrained when appropriate. I personally wouldn't mind having to wait a bit for wood to dry, or having to hunt for specific types of wood. Simulation is a big part of why I enjoy the game so much. It's enjoyable dealing with natural processes and having to plan ahead.
